What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any specific vehicle, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual car. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for water intrusion, interior wear, and any signs of poor repair quality. Focus especially on how the cabin, seats, and cargo area have held up, since comfort and space are common ownership talking points.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Trailblazer’s trim walk starts with L, LS, and LT, while Activ and RS add a more distinctive look and are available with all-wheel drive. The base setup is more basic, so you should pay attention to which convenience and appearance features are missing before you buy.
• Powertrain: Front-wheel-drive L, LS, and LT models use a turbocharged 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. Other versions use a turbocharged 1.3-liter 3-cylinder with 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, and AWD swaps in a 9-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision alert with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a safe following distance indicator. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assistance, a high-definition reversing camera, and adaptive cruise control depend on trim level.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth pairing for two phones, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, Teen Driver, and Chevrolet Connected Access with a WiFi hotspot. An available upgrade for Activ and RS adds an 8-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and cloud-connected personalization.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trailblazer Activ AWD averaged 26.6 mpg in testing, and the official EPA rating was 28 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LS, LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Trailblazer nameplate. You get the core small-SUV formula, but you should expect the fewest extras and the most basic version of the standard equipment.
• LS: This is the next step up if you want a little more everyday usability without moving too far up the price ladder. It should be the trim to compare closely if you want value and can live without the more distinctive styling or upgraded content of the higher trims.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and gives you a more balanced mix of equipment and price. If you want the Trailblazer’s strengths without stretching into the more style-focused trims, this is the one to focus on first.
• Activ: This is the choice if you want the rugged look and the more adventurous personality. It adds skid plate trim, unique wheels, sport-terrain tires, a larger grille, and standard two-tone paint, making it the most distinctive option for buyers who care about appearance and image.
• RS: This is the sportier-looking trim for shoppers who want a more aggressive visual theme. It belongs on your shortlist if style matters most and you want the Trailblazer with the strongest street-focused personality.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard, while blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assistance, the high-definition camera, and adaptive cruise control depend on trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,634 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,061, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer's resale value?

The current average of $17,061 sits slightly below last year's $18,640.

That decline suggests the Trailblazer has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal rather than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than plain, high-mileage versions.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer’s crash-test ratings are not cited in the available review text.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard, and it includes forward-collision alert with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a safe following distance indicator. The Trailblazer also includes 10 airbags, a rear-seat reminder system, Teen Driver technology, and subscription-based automatic collision notification service. Depending on trim level, you can add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assistance, a high-definition reversing camera, and adaptive cruise control.

The expert review also notes some inconsistency from the lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control systems, so you should test those features carefully on a used example.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings strong technology and a stylish, affordable entry into Chevrolet’s SUV lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,909, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $17,061 average.
• It adds a heated steering wheel and new paint colors.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter starting point because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction and plenty of tech. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model and a few added features, the 2022 is the secondary path to consider.
