CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Chevrolet Blazer
overall

Summary
With 179 currently listed for sale near Atlanta, GA and an average price of $20,126.00, 28.5% of 2021 Chevrolet Blazers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
83.2% of 2021 Blazer models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer stands out by putting exterior design and performance ahead of everything else. It has a sporty, Camaro-inspired personality, and its handling is one of its biggest strengths. The technology is also easy to use, which helps the Blazer feel approachable even as it leans into style and driving enjoyment.
That appeal comes with tradeoffs. The interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and the Blazer is described as poor value for money. It is also positioned as a rarer sight on the road because it sits between two other Chevrolet crossovers, with the Equinox offering a lower price and similar cargo space and the Traverse adding a third row while costing the same and using the same powertrain. For buyers who want a crossover that prioritizes looks and road manners, the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer has a clear identity, but it asks a premium for that character.

I love this vehicle! Plenty of leg room, comfortable seating and responsive. I love the 308 hp V6. I had gotten away from Chevrolet for sometime. The value and dependability of their vehicles dropped considerably . The Blazer is the redeeming vehicle for me. The options on my Blazer are great for me and may not be suitable for other customers but at least there are plenty to choose from. If Great value for the money.

I really like the look of the Blazer, very sporty looking. I test drove the RS with the 3.6L V6 engine and it was very responsive and appeared to have plenty of power. Interior is only available in black and seemed plain, even with the red accents that come with the RS package. I did like the dash configuration and gauge cluster, reminded me of the Camaro. Over all I liked it, but compared to equally equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Edge it is overpriced. Pricing seems to be the same as the Traverse which is a larger SUV.

If you find a listing below $21,659.52, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.
Drivers consistently praise the sporty look, responsive power, and driving enjoyment, and they also call out the feature set as a major plus. The review summary also points to good value for some buyers, especially families, while noting that the interior can feel plain and the price can seem high versus rivals.
On the expert side, the Blazer’s handling and easy-to-use technology are clear strengths, but the interior materials feel cheap and the transmission calibration is frustrating. In practical terms, this is a crossover that makes the most sense if you want style and road manners first, not the most polished cabin or the best value.
Only 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than broadly discounted.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the sporty look, responsive power, and features that make daily driving enjoyable. The expert evaluation also describes the Blazer as approachable and easy to live with, which supports the idea that it can be a straightforward vehicle to count on.
The Blazer’s standard maintenance and drivability story is helped by its simple, user-friendly tech and mainstream mechanical layout, but the used-car risk is still tied to condition, service history, and how hard the transmission and drivetrain have been used.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior collision repair. Focus on cabin condition too, since the interior materials are a known weak point and wear can show up quickly. If you’re comparing multiple listings, give extra weight to maintenance records and how smoothly the transmission and brakes feel on a test drive.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes L, LT, RS, and Premier, and the base L and 1LT are the trims to be most cautious about because they miss some of the better equipment and are tied to the weakest engine setup. The RS stands out for its sportier appearance and driving character, while the Premier leans more upscale with available saddle tan leather and more premium presentation.
- Powertrain: The Blazer offers three engines with FWD or AWD and a nine-speed automatic. The 2.5-liter inline-four is the weakest choice, the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is the sensible middle ground, and the 3.6-liter V6 is the preferred engine for stronger performance.
- Safety package: Driver assists come standard on most trims except the L and 1LT, and they include forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. The enhanced forward emergency braking is reserved for top trims with the Driver Confidence II package, which also adds wireless phone charging, a rear camera washer, LED headlights, 360 cameras, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat.
- Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. The Plus version adds navigation with traffic, 4G WiFi, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and the ability to pair two phones.
- Fuel efficiency: The AWD V6 is rated at 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the AWD turbo inline-four returns 22/27/24.
Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LT, RS, Premier.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the entry point, but it’s the trim to approach carefully because the base engine is underpowered and noisy, and the overall value proposition is weak. It makes sense only if you’re chasing the lowest sticker price and can live with the compromises.
- LT: This is the better starting point for most shoppers because it moves you away from the weakest setup and opens the door to the more acceptable turbo engine. If you want the best balance of price and livability, this is the trim to focus on first.
- RS: This is the one to buy if you care most about the Blazer’s personality. It pairs the preferred V6 with sport-tuned suspension, brakes, and steering, and it’s the trim that best matches the SUV’s styling-and-handling mission.
- Premier: This is the most upscale choice, with the most premium presentation and available saddle tan leather. It suits you if you want the Blazer’s style in its most polished form and are willing to pay for it.
For safety equipment, most trims get driver assists, but the L and 1LT miss out on that standard package, and the enhanced forward emergency braking is limited to top trims with Driver Confidence II.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,150 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.63% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,659.52, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?
The current average of $21,691 sits slightly below last year's $23,739.
That price movement suggests the Blazer has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you choose a well-kept example with the right equipment, you may have a better chance of holding value than if you overpay for a rougher one. The strongest resale prospects will usually come from listings that combine desirable trim content with clean history and strong condition.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?
The 2021 Blazer scored an overall five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and in all three crash tests. The front passenger scored four stars in the frontal crash and the vehicle scored four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Blazer top "Good" ratings in all crash tests, but "Marginal" and "Poor" ratings for headlights.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard driver-assistance setup on most trims includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. The enhanced forward emergency braking adds radar to the camera system and is limited to top trims with the Driver Confidence II package. A driver’s knee airbag is standard, but GM’s inboard side airbag is not offered, and rear emergency braking is also not available.
The headlight ratings are the main caveat here, so if safety is a priority, pay close attention to trim and equipment.
Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.63% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines sporty handling with easy-to-use technology and strong styling.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $24,059, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,691 average.
- It adds a more practical five-passenger package with up to 64.2 cubic feet of cargo.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it’s cheaper and already reflects a softer market. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and slightly different packaging, the 2022 is the secondary path for buyers who prioritize freshness over price.
