How much does the 2021 Cadillac Escalade cost?

Prices have softened 9.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,476 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its technology, build quality, and stylish design, and many describe it as a major improvement over earlier versions. The overview also points to a great ride quality, a powerful engine, and impressive technology as the main reasons it stands out.

The trade-offs are straightforward: advanced safety features are not standard, and fuel economy is poor. It also may not feel as luxurious to you as some rivals, despite its upscale positioning.

Given its full-size luxury-SUV mission, it makes the most sense if you want a big, tech-forward family hauler with strong presence and comfort. With 36.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on technology, build quality, and a generally trouble-free impression compared with earlier versions. The expert review also reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Escalade as a refined, well-sorted redesign with improved comfort and dynamics.

Cadillac’s standard equipment includes a turbo-diesel engine at no additional cost, which adds flexibility for buyers who want a different powertrain choice. The overall package suggests you’re buying a vehicle that owners tend to trust and keep for the long haul.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about whether the vehicle was maintained carefully enough to preserve its high-end systems.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented past. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the electronics, suspension, and driver-assistance systems, since this Escalade leans heavily on advanced tech. Focus on cabin condition too, because luxury materials and high-use touchpoints matter a lot in a vehicle like this.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Luxury trim is the least equipped and comes only with black leatherette and a single wood trim choice, while Premium Luxury and Sport add more standard leather and more upscale presentation. Platinum versions bring semi-aniline premium leather, leather-wrapped interior panels, and a simulated suede headliner, so they suit you if you want the most luxurious cabin.
• Powertrain: You can choose a standard 6.2-liter V8 or a no-cost 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six. The V8 is the stronger emotional fit if you want the traditional Escalade character, while the diesel is the efficiency-minded alternative.
• Safety package: Every Escalade gets forward collision warning, automatic forward emergency braking below 50 mph, front and rear pedestrian detection, Teen Driver, parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror, while the Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The cabin centers on a 38-inch curved-glass OLED display setup, with a 14.2-inch instrumentation screen and a 16.9-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also includes AR navigation and a 19-speaker AKG premium sound system, with a 36-speaker AKG Reference system available.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 is rated at 16 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 15.9 mpg on a 140-mile loop. The turbo-diesel is described as potentially capable of up to 27 mpg in combined driving in a related application, though final official figures for this Escalade were not finalized in the source material.

Which 2021 Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is offered in 4 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Escalade experience at the lowest price, but it offers little in the way of upgrades. Choose it only if you mainly want the nameplate and can live with the least lavish cabin.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel and was the test vehicle’s trim. It’s the sweet spot if you want the Escalade’s luxury, tech, and road presence without jumping all the way to the top.
• Sport: Pick this if you want the blacked-out appearance and a more aggressive look. It follows the same basic formula as Premium Luxury but leans more toward style than added substance.
• Platinum: This is the trim for you if you want maximum luxury. It adds the richest interior materials and the most premium presentation, making it the clear choice if comfort and prestige matter most.

Premium Luxury and Sport also raise the safety level with standard blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,476 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $54,841, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

The current average of $54,841 sits slightly below last year's $60,781.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale returns if you overpay today. If you buy near the current average or below it, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit.

The Escalade’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who value its size, tech, and luxury image. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade safe?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Cadillac equips every Escalade with forward collision warning, automatic forward emergency braking below 50 mph, front and rear pedestrian detection, a Safety Alert Seat, Teen Driver, front and rear parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera system, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror, while the Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.

The source material also notes a couple of false-alarm moments from the advanced driver-assistance systems, including one unnecessary braking event. That means you should pay close attention during a test drive and make sure the systems behave the way you expect.

Should I buy a 2021 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings the redesigned Escalade’s major tech and comfort upgrades, including the 38-inch OLED display and improved ride quality.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $60,029, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $54,841 average.
• It adds standard lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning on the base trim.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price relief and the redesigned Escalade’s core strengths, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a few extra standard safety conveniences, the 2022 is the cleaner choice, but price-sensitive shoppers should start with the 2021.
