Used 2020 Toyota Tundra for Sale nearPortland, ME

How much does the 2020 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 2.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,656 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.79/5 user rating and a 5.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, power, and spacious interior, and the truck is also described as sturdy and dependable for long-term ownership. The overview points to a roomy cabin and strong durability as major reasons to consider it, while the expert notes reinforce that it is built around a proven, old-school formula.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and a noisy driving experience. The overview also frames it as uncompetitive in several areas, so you should expect a truck that appeals most if you value durability and simplicity over refinement and efficiency.

With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user summary repeatedly emphasizes reliability, dependability, and long-term ownership appeal, and the expert summary describes the truck as “utterly bulletproof” in terms of reliability. That same theme shows up in the performance write-up, which calls the powertrain a refined and durable workhorse.

Toyota also includes free scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that durability does not erase age-related wear, especially if the truck has been worked hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Tundra?

At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of prior repair. Because the truck’s safety record is mixed, it is smart to focus on how well the specific example has been maintained and whether any accident damage was properly repaired.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from SR to 1794 Edition, and the higher trims add more comfort and luxury. The TRD Pro stands apart with a tougher, more technical appearance, but the base trims are much simpler and less plush.
• Powertrain: Every 2020 Tundra uses a 5.7-liter V8 with a 6-speed automatic. It is described as a refined and durable workhorse, with strong horsepower and torque, but fuel economy is unimpressive.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available. Every Tundra also includes Safety Connect services with automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get a 7-inch display, while pricier versions upgrade to an 8-inch screen. All versions include Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, USB ports, and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says a 4WD Tundra gets 13 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 14 mpg combined. The expert also reports an average of 14.3 mpg during mixed driving.

Which 2020 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Tundra is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, and 1794 Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the simplest equipment. It gets the standard 7-inch display and the core safety and connectivity features, but it is the least upscale choice.
• SR5: This is the trim most buyers should start with because it adds more everyday usability without jumping too far up the price ladder. It is the best-value path if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and cost.
• Limited: This is the right step up if you want a more polished cabin and more premium feel. It suits you if comfort matters more than keeping the sticker as low as possible.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice, with standard 4WD, BBS forged aluminum wheels, Fox off-road shocks, a TRD-tuned dual exhaust, and an aluminum skid plate. It is the most specialized trim in the lineup.
• Platinum: This is for you if you want a more upscale truck experience and are willing to pay for it. It sits near the top of the range and is aimed at buyers who want more luxury than the lower trims provide.
• 1794 Edition: This is the most distinctive luxury-oriented trim and is best if you want the most character and premium presentation in the lineup. It is the top-end choice for shoppers who want style and comfort first.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the Tundra.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,656 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,077, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $36,800 sits slightly below last year's $37,584.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened, but not dramatically. For a future seller, that means the Tundra is still holding a relatively stable price position compared with many vehicles that drop more sharply over time.

Its reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when you eventually sell. Well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment should remain easier to move than trucks with accident records or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2020 Tundra earns Good ratings from IIHS in some tests, but it also gets Marginal and Poor results in small-overlap frontal testing, and its headlights are rated Marginal. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and you can also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Every Tundra includes Safety Connect services with automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling.

The weak point is the crash-test performance, especially the small-overlap results. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to trim equipment and overall condition, but the underlying ratings remain a meaningful drawback.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its “utterly bulletproof” reliability and proven old-school truck formula.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $33,742, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $36,800 average.
• It keeps the same straightforward, proven pickup formula while adding a revised TRD Pro suspension and new BBS wheels.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,525, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $36,800 average.
• It keeps the old-school design but adds modern infotainment and safety updates.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of reliability, value, and available inventory, the 2020 is the main year to target. If price is your top priority, the 2019 is the better bargain, while the 2021 makes sense if you want a slightly newer truck and are willing to pay more.
