overall

Summary
With 60 currently listed for sale near Denver, CO and an average price of $24,828.00, 21.7% of 2020 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Toyota Sienna 4.71 / 5 stars.
100.0% of 2020 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
The 2020 Toyota Sienna stands out with its spacious cargo area, advanced safety features, and the unique availability of all-wheel drive (AWD).
Why it stands out
The 2020 Toyota Sienna is a strong contender in the minivan segment, primarily due to its impressive cargo space and versatility. With a maximum cargo capacity of 150 cubic feet, it outshines competitors like the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey. The Sienna is also the only minivan in its class to offer all-wheel drive, catering to families who need extra traction in various driving conditions. While it may not be the newest model on the market, its reliability and comfort have garnered high praise from owners, reflected in its solid user rating of 4.71 / 5 stars. The Sienna is equipped with a suite of standard safety features, including lane-departure warning and forward-collision warning, ensuring peace of mind for families on the go. However, some users have noted concerns about its ergonomic design and steering responsiveness, which can feel twitchy at higher speeds. Overall, the Sienna remains a practical choice for those prioritizing space and safety in a family vehicle.

This is my second Toyota Sienna XLE. Love the XLE model, it cruises smoothly on the highway and has the safety features we’re accustomed to. We wanted the 2020 as we didn’t want a hybrid which all 2021 models are, no choice in that. We do wish the backup camera had the yellow guide like my Highlander Limited model but overall we’re ecstatic. I look forward to driving this Sienna until the wheels fall off, literally!

Features OK. Pre-2021 Sienna holds more cargo than any other minivan made in the last 20 years. High priced, but will last 200,000 miles.

The Toyota Sienna is a comfortable, reliable van. If taken care of and I mean regular maintenance, this van will last a long time. I have owned a 2003, 2009, 2015 and now a 2020. I compared it to other vans and they are safe in addition to reliable.

The 2020 Sienna XLE has a nice base package included in the msrp. I think it drives better than an SUV and will get better gas mileage. And the cargo space is larger. Thumbs up on the Sienna

Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.71/5 user rating, and our experts give it a 7.83/10 rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the spacious cargo area, smooth driving experience, comfort, and reliability. The Sienna also stands out for its family-friendly practicality and standard safety features, which help make it an easy vehicle to live with.
The main trade-offs are its dated feel, pricing, and the lack of some automated features on lower-end models. That said, the Sienna’s minivan layout and available all-wheel drive make it especially appealing if you want maximum space and traction in a family vehicle.
With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe the Sienna as reliable, comfortable, and a vehicle they feel good about keeping for the long haul. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, especially for families that value space and everyday usability.
Our experts also note that the Sienna’s strong practicality and smooth ride support its reputation as a vehicle you can count on. Toyota’s standard safety tech adds another layer of confidence for daily use.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure prior wear, maintenance history, and any accident damage haven’t undermined that reputation.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Sienna?
At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize an in-person inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a van with multiple owners. Focus on condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s family-use wear matches the asking price. Because the Sienna is often bought for long-term utility, it’s worth paying close attention to how well the cabin, controls, and safety systems have held up.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L comes relatively well equipped, but it still lacks some of the family-friendly upgrades found higher up the range. The LE adds dual power sliding doors, black roof rails, a rear bumper protector, easy-clean upholstery, and manual second- and third-row sunshades. The SE adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a mesh grille, fog lights, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a power rear liftgate. The XLE adds leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, and an upgraded instrument panel, while the Limited adds leather front seats, a heated and leather-trimmed steering wheel, JBL premium audio, and navigation.
- Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque paired with an 8-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive returns the best fuel economy at 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined, while AWD versions return 18/24/20. AWD is available on all trims except the base L, but it comes only with the 7-passenger configuration.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P includes lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on the XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: The Sienna uses a 7-inch touchscreen on every trim. It supports Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth connectivity, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot. The system does not grow larger on higher trims, though upper versions add features such as navigation and premium audio.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined. AWD versions return 18 mpg city, 24 highway, 20 combined.
Which 2020 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2020 Toyota Sienna is offered in 8 trim levels: L, LE, SE, SE Premium, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, and Limited Premium.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The L is the entry point, but it misses some of the convenience upgrades that make the Sienna especially family-friendly, including power sliding doors and the more upscale cabin touches found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SE is the best value pick because it adds a power rear liftgate, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and distinctive styling without jumping all the way to the luxury-oriented trims.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited Premium is the most feature-rich choice, adding HID headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and the DVD entertainment system on top of the Limited’s leather, navigation, and JBL audio.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are aimed at off-road use, so your decision should stay focused on family convenience, comfort, and available AWD.
Blind-spot monitoring is standard on the XLE and Limited, which makes those trims easier to recommend if safety tech is a priority.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 973 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.28% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 69.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $26,579.13, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $27,249 sits slightly below last year's $29,075.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the van for several years. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim choice than on broad market momentum alone.
Because the Sienna has strong owner satisfaction and a reputation for practicality, well-kept examples should continue to attract family buyers. Higher-demand trims and clean history reports are likely to hold value better than neglected or heavily worn vans.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna safe?
The Sienna earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Good score from IIHS in many areas, including side crash, rollover crash, and moderate front overlap crash.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense P comes standard and includes lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on the XLE and Limited.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Sienna’s twitchy steering can make lane discipline more important, so the standard driver-assistance suite is especially valuable in everyday driving.
Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.28% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It offers all-wheel drive and class-leading cargo space for families who need versatility.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $35,133, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $27,249 average.
- It brings a standard hybrid powertrain and a major redesign.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, space, and proven family utility, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If fuel efficiency and a newer design matter more than upfront cost, the 2021 is the better long-term alternative for price-insensitive buyers.
