Summary
With 69 currently listed for sale near Denver, CO and an average price of $31,058.00, 55.1% of 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrids for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 4.8 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid stands out as a compact crossover that combines standard all-wheel drive, a roomy passenger compartment, and excellent fuel economy. It also brings plenty of standard multimedia and safety features, which helps explain why it is presented as a strong value at a starting price of $29,470. Those strengths make it appealing to buyers who want a practical hybrid with broad everyday usefulness rather than a stripped-down efficiency play.
It is also described as the best-selling hybrid in the United States for good reason, and the test-drive notes point to a fuel-efficient and powerful engine along with plenty of cargo space. At the same time, the cabin is noted as noisy, so the RAV4 Hybrid’s appeal is strongest for shoppers who prioritize efficiency, space, and standard equipment over a quieter driving experience.

This vehicle has everything my husband wanted and more. The start up is so quiet you doubt yourself whether or not its on, but it is. The ride as a passenger is awesome. Driving this vehicle is like a dream come true as far as vehicles are concerned. Its fuel efficient. Its very roomy and sporty. My husband just absolutely loves his new 2020 RAV4 XSE Hybrid.

I purchased the Rav4 XSE. Ive only had the car for 5 days but I love it. It has a very smooth ride. The handling is tight. Very comfortable interior. The pickup is nice with plenty of room. The touchscreen radio/navigation system is easy to use. Over-all a great car. It doesnt get the gas mileage that I was told about but that is probably due to my driving. If I were very careful about my acceleration I would be doing better in that area. The panoramic moon roof doesnt open as far as Id like but I dont use that feature much. I chose this car over the 2020 Nissan Rogue and the 2020 Mazda CX-5.

Love this car! So quiet but drives beautifully. It is a good value. I plan to drive it for a number of years. I might have added a sunroof and Homelink but not missing those features.

Is the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to a vehicle people feel good about keeping, with repeated praise for comfort, smoothness, and efficiency that tends to go hand in hand with dependable day-to-day ownership.
The expert notes back that up with a powertrain described as well-matched to the vehicle and a hybrid system that feels nearly seamless in operation. Toyota also includes 2 years or 25,000 miles of free maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior use and maintenance history are clean, since hybrid-specific repairs can be expensive if the vehicle has been neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and suspension, and pay close attention to cabin condition and signs of heavy use. Because this model is valued for efficiency and standard equipment, you should make sure the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup starts with the LE, which is good, but the XLE adds desirable extras like fog lights, more adjustable front seats, nicer interior trim, more USB ports, a cargo cover, and blind-spot monitoring. The XSE is the sweet spot because it adds bigger wheels, two-tone paint, a sunroof, power liftgate, panoramic backup camera, digital instrumentation, imitation leather upholstery, heated seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, ambient interior lighting, and the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Limited sits above that, and only the top trim can be had with adaptive headlights.
- Powertrain: Toyota uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors to drive all four wheels, and the system produces 219 horsepower. The hybrid setup is tuned for strong efficiency, with a combined EPA rating of 40 miles per gallon, and it can tow up to 1,750 pounds.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, full-speed range adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind spot monitoring and front and rear parking assist with automated braking are optional, so check whether a used example has them.
- Infotainment: Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, and all trims also get SiriusXM Radio. The system includes WiFi Connect, standard Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, and an available premium JBL stereo with navigation. All trims above LE add four extra USB-A charging ports.
- Fuel efficiency: The combined EPA fuel economy rating is 40 miles per gallon, and the test-drive notes say that figure is realistic in normal driving.
Which 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the core hybrid appeal, standard all-wheel drive, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and strong fuel economy. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it leaves out several convenience and comfort upgrades that make the higher trims easier to live with.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds fog lights, more adjustable front seats, nicer interior trim, more USB ports, a cargo cover, and blind-spot monitoring without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims. If you want the smartest balance of price and equipment, this is the one to target.
- XSE: This is the sweet spot if you want the most appealing mix of features and style. It adds bigger wheels, two-tone paint, a sunroof, power liftgate, panoramic backup camera, digital instrumentation, imitation leather upholstery, heated seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, ambient interior lighting, and the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
- Limited: This is the top trim, and it’s the one to consider if you want the most complete feature set, including the option for adaptive headlights. It makes the most sense if you want the most upscale version and are willing to pay for it.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, while blind spot monitoring and front and rear parking assist with automated braking remain optional.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?
The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,582 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 80.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $25,441.84, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $27,443 sits slightly above last year's $27,285.
That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that usually means the model has enough demand to avoid steep depreciation in the near term. Its strong efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and broad usefulness help keep it attractive to used buyers. Well-equipped examples should remain easier to move than stripped-down ones, especially if they’re clean and well maintained.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid safe?
It earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it brings pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, full-speed range adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Safety Connect is also included with a 1-year trial. Blind spot monitoring and front and rear parking assist with automated braking are optional, so you should confirm whether a used example has those extras. The IIHS has not tested the hybrid specifically, though the standard RAV4 earned a Top Safety Pick designation.
Should I buy a 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds Android Auto and standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.0.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $25,309, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $27,443 average.
- It offers a tougher look and strong value.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $29,130, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $27,443 average.
- It adds the XLE Premium trim and broadens the lineup.
The bottom line: The 2020 is the best all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of standard tech, safety, and efficiency without paying newer-model pricing. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the value play; if you want a broader trim walk and can spend more, the 2021 is worth a look.
