Used 2020 Toyota Highlander for Sale near Arkansas

How much does the 2020 Toyota Highlander cost?

Prices have softened 4.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,374 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Toyota Highlander earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, advanced features, and spacious interior, and many also highlight the safety equipment and family-friendly usability. The trade-offs are that some reviewers want better front-seat comfort and higher-quality interior materials, while experts note poor handling and uninspired styling.

Given the Highlander’s comfort-first mission and three-row layout, it makes the most sense if you want a relaxed family SUV rather than something sporty. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also meaningful market value to consider.

Is the 2020 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the Highlander’s smooth ride and family-friendly practicality. Expert commentary also emphasizes its calm, easygoing character and the sense that it’s built for long-term comfort rather than drama.

Toyota includes two years of maintenance and roadside assistance, which helps reduce early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Highlander?

At 70.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings with similar prices. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and evidence that the vehicle has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Every trim except the base L has projector-beam LED headlights and fog lights, while prettier LED running lamps are reserved for the Limited and Platinum. Big 20-inch wheels are also limited to the top two trims.
• Powertrain: The Highlander uses a 3.5-liter V6 with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It delivers brisk acceleration, smooth operation, and strong everyday drivability.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and rear emergency braking are optional.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen is available on higher trims. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration come standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The Highlander FWD is EPA rated at 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. With AWD, it returns 20/27/23.

Which 2020 Toyota Highlander trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Highlander is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it skips some of the nicer exterior touches found higher up the range. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler setup.
• LE: This is the best-value trim in the low $40,000 range. It’s the sweet spot if you want a strong mix of equipment and value without jumping to the pricier luxury-leaning trims.
• XLE: This trim adds more comfort and convenience while staying below the top-end models. It’s a good fit if you want a more upscale daily driver without paying for the most expensive features.
• Limited: This trim brings the richer cabin treatment, optional 12.3-inch touchscreen, and more premium feel. It suits you if you want the Highlander’s near-Lexus character most clearly.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most upscale presentation and the largest standard screen. Choose it if you want the most luxurious Highlander experience.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and rear emergency braking remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,374 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,944, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $27,370 sits slightly below last year's $28,540.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. The Highlander’s strong comfort reputation and broad appeal should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a three-row SUV with a premium feel. If you keep mileage, condition, and maintenance history in good shape, you’ll be better positioned when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Highlander safe?

The 2020 Toyota Highlander earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS for scoring the top rating in all six crash tests, the optional headlights, and emergency braking performance against cars and pedestrians.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and rear emergency braking are optional. A driver’s knee airbag and a special cushion airbag for the front passenger are standard.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 redesign emphasizes a quieter ride, a more premium cabin, and a Lexus-like feel.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,496, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $27,370 average.
• It adds more standard safety-feature technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a premium comfort focus. If you’re willing to spend more for additional standard safety tech, the 2021 is the better path.
