About 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Overview

In North America, Mercedes-Benz has a reputation as an upscale luxury brand. In the rest of the world, Mercedes-Benz also has a reputation for more working-class vehicles. One example that has made it to our shores is the Sprinter line of work vans. Sprinters are designed for many different jobs, including those in the medical and livery fields, but the Sprinter Cargo Van is the ultimate blank canvas for companies and contractors, alike.
There are 21 different variations for the Sprinter Cargo Van and countless configurations to cater to various professions. The Sprinter Cargo Van is available in three different lengths—the 144-inch wheelbase, 170-inch wheelbase, and extended 170-inch body styles. When properly equipped, the extended van has a cargo capacity of 533 cubic feet.
The Sprinter Cargo Van comes equipped with two USB-C charging ports in the dash, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel with paddle shifters, and keyless start. Most features are options, including air conditioning, automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, heated-and-power-adjustable side mirrors, heated front seats, and an electric power-sliding side door. The Sprinter also comes with three months of complimentary Mercedes PRO connected services. This includes services such as Optimized Assistance, Efficient Fleet Management, and Data Interface for Vans.
There are three powertrains available on the Sprinter Cargo Van. The base 188-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine is paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission. There are also two turbodiesel engine options. The 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engine makes 166 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. An available 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 puts out 188 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Both turbodiesel engines route power through a 7-speed automatic transmission. All engines send power to the rear wheels, and the V6 is available with four-wheel drive.
The Sprinter Cargo Van comes with front-and-side airbags for the driver and front passenger. It also comes with hill rollback prevention and electronic stability control that compensates and adapts to loads in the vehicle.
Base MSRP for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Van is $38,770 for a 144-inch wheelbase model. A 170-inch wheelbase variant starts at $44,100 and the extended version of that model starts at $45,950. The Sprinter Cargo Van is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile basic limited warranty. Longer-term warranties and protection packages are available.

Not terrible, but way too big of a vehicle for the horsepower. Even the standard roof was too high for any parking structures or garages. For anybody with a handicap in the lower extremities , climbing in and out of the drivers and cargo areas will need additional step ups and grab bars. The body panels are solid sounding and the sliding door opens to a cavernous width. Very easy to get large items like pallets in and out the side easily. Sprinter is probably the best large van on the market today, but the small engine that gets poore mileage, and high cost for premium fuel and Mercedes maintenance price up charges, makes this not the right choice for many.

I love the new little shifter. The diesel engine is so smooth and has lots of compression when you take your foot off the gas. It doesnt have a lag from start anymore. Its very annoying that you have to stop and neutral to shift from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive to 4 wheel drive low. Its annoying that every time you say Mercedes it wants to know what you want. Its an extremely large and heavy vehicle when you come from a little Volkswagen.
