How much does the 2020 Lexus IS cost?

Prices have softened 3.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 455 listings available, which gives you a moderate amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — 4.7/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the 2020 Lexus IS fits buyers who want a premium-feeling compact luxury sports sedan with a sporty character and a comparatively low price point. It also makes sense if you want a smaller luxury sedan with standard equipment and available safety technology, but it is less compelling if you need family-friendly rear-seat space or maximum practicality. 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 Lexus IS also benefits from the brand’s strong reliability reputation, which supports confidence if you plan to keep the car for years. Even so, you should still expect used-car ownership risk to depend heavily on maintenance history and how well each individual example has been cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus IS?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and prioritize cars with clean records and consistent service documentation. A pre-purchase inspection is worth it, especially if you are comparing multiple examples with similar prices. Focus on overall condition, because the best buy is usually the one with the strongest maintenance history and the fewest signs of wear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus IS?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can buy now if you are selective and willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 455 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,860, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $26,450 sits slightly below last year's $27,419.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward from prior levels. If you plan to resell later, your best protection is buying a well-kept example at a competitive price so you have less depreciation room to absorb. Strong condition and a clean history matter more when the market is already pricing in some softness.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $33,881, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,450 average.
• It brings a new generation with more focused styling and stronger enthusiast appeal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the lower entry price and a solid satisfaction signal. If you are willing to spend more for a newer-generation feel and a more performance-focused personality, the 2021 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 is the more practical buy.
