Used 2020 Lexus GX for Sale nearNew Orleans, LA

How much does the 2020 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 5.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 812 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Lexus GX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its robust build, off-road capability, and luxurious interior, and many also value the ride quality and reliability, especially at higher mileage. In use, that lines up with the GX’s clear purpose: it is a comfortable luxury SUV for you if you care more about durability and capability than the latest tech trends.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the cabin technology feels dated, and the styling is not especially exciting. That makes it a better fit if you want a distinctive, rugged luxury SUV rather than a modern, gadget-heavy one.

The market also shows 38.7% of listings as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, durability, and trouble-free ownership, with many owners saying they trust it even after high mileage. The expert evaluation also emphasizes its robust build and the sense that it is designed for people who truly get off the beaten path.

That said, long-term ownership risk for used buyers is tied more to age and upkeep than to the core reputation of the vehicle, so a careful inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus GX?

At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and wear match the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 460 comes with 10-way power front seats, leather upholstery, push-button start, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Premium adds rain-sensing windshield wipers, 3-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, wood and aluminum cabin accents, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and navigation. The Luxury trim adds premium leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, self-leveling air suspension, and power-folding/reclining third-row seats.
• Powertrain: The GX 460 uses a 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard 4WD. It is built for real-world power delivery and serious off-road use.
• Safety package: The Lexus Safety System+ includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring is standard. An available surround-view camera adds another layer of visibility.
• Infotainment: The GX uses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and the setup is simpler than many modern systems. It does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX returns 15 mpg city and 19 mpg highway.

Which 2020 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Lexus GX is offered in 3 trim levels: 460, 460 Premium, and 460 Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• 460: This is the best-value trim because it already comes very well equipped with leather upholstery, power front seats, push-button start, a power sunroof, automatic climate control, and the 8-inch touchscreen. CarGurus recommends avoiding many of the extra upcharges and starting here.
• 460 Premium: This trim adds useful comfort and convenience upgrades like heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, parking sensors, and LED fog lights. It makes sense if you want more everyday luxury without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• 460 Luxury: This is the right choice if you want the most comfort-focused GX, with premium leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, self-leveling air suspension, and power-folding/reclining third-row seats.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 812 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,070, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $37,078 sits slightly below last year's $39,047.

That price movement suggests the GX has softened, which can help you buy in at a more favorable point. If you plan to sell later, the current market gives you a useful benchmark: a lower entry price can reduce your depreciation exposure.

The GX’s appeal to buyers who want durability, comfort, and off-road capability should help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Lexus GX safe?

The 2020 Lexus GX earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+, which includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is also standard, and the available surround-view camera adds extra confidence when parking or maneuvering.

A notable strength is visibility: the driver sits high with large windows and mirrors, which helps you see out of the vehicle more easily. That said, the safety story is still shaped by the GX’s older design, so you should pay close attention to how well the available driver-assistance features work on the specific vehicle you are considering.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines old-school toughness with luxury-SUV comfort while still offering strong off-road capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,234, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $37,078 average.
• It adds a new Premium Plus Package and acoustic front side glass.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it offers the GX’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay more for a slightly updated version, the 2021 is the secondary path to consider.
