Used 2020 Kia Forte for Sale nearBaton Rouge, LA

How much does the 2020 Kia Forte cost?

Prices have softened 7.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,482 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Kia Forte a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Kia Forte earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its great value, impressive design, and fun driving experience. The user feedback also points to smooth handling and excellent fuel economy, while the overview frames it as a compact sedan that gives you a lot of room for the money and a more engaging drive than many rivals.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and some disappointment around quicker acceleration and sound-system output. If you want a practical compact sedan that still feels stylish and entertaining, this year’s Forte fits that use case well.

Listings with good or great deals make up 31.2% of the market, so there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Kia Forte reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the car’s strong value and enjoyable day-to-day use. The expert review also emphasizes the Forte’s cost-effectiveness and the confidence that comes from its long warranty coverage.

That said, used-car reliability still depends on how the previous owner maintained the car, so a careful service-history check is smart before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Kia Forte?

At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on maintenance records, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the car’s features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT stands apart with a turbocharged engine, a dual-clutch transmission, a sport-tuned suspension, active exhaust, larger front brakes, and bigger 18-inch wheels. Inside, it adds sport-sedan touches such as red stitching, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and gloss-black trim, while the standard Forte lineup is more straightforward and the base setup is the least equipped.
• Powertrain: The GT uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, while other Fortes use a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. The GT’s DCT is described as well behaved, and the manual transmission is available for buyers who want a more involved drive.
• Safety package: The Forte includes advanced driver-assistance systems, and the GT with the GT2 Package gets all of them. Standard safety tech includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and 911 Connect, though the automatic emergency braking works only at lower speeds and adaptive cruise control does not bring the car to a full stop.
• Infotainment: Every 2020 Forte has an 8-inch touchscreen, plus Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a reversing camera. The EX and GT also add SiriusXM satellite radio and connected services through Kia’s Your Voice (UVO) technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The GT’s fuel-economy figures are not stated here.

Which 2020 Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2020 Kia Forte is offered in 4 trim levels: Forte LXS, Forte EX, Forte GT-Line, Forte GT.

Here's the short version:

• Forte LXS: This is the value-oriented step up from the base car, adding a standard CVT and nicer wheels while keeping the Forte’s core affordability intact. It makes sense if you want a better-equipped daily driver without chasing sportier extras.
• Forte EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it is described as loaded with everything the test car offers except the GT’s performance hardware. If you want comfort, features, and strong value without paying for the turbo setup, this is the one to target.
• Forte GT-Line: Choose this if you want the sporty look without the full performance character. It gives you the appearance upgrade, but the content points to the GT as the trim that delivers the real driving excitement.
• Forte GT: This is the enthusiast pick, with the turbocharged engine, sport suspension, active exhaust, bigger brakes, and the most distinctive cabin and exterior details. It suits you best if you care more about driving enjoyment than minimizing cost.

The GT with the GT2 Package gets the full set of driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Kia Forte?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to compare carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,482 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,494, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Kia Forte's resale value?

The current average of $12,494 sits slightly below last year's $13,516.

That kind of price movement suggests the Forte has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand stay healthy among shoppers looking for value. For a future seller, that means resale performance will likely depend on condition, mileage, and trim appeal more than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the model still has strong value credentials and a solid reputation with owners, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Higher-spec trims with desirable equipment may also hold buyer interest better than a plain base car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Kia Forte safe?

The 2020 Kia Forte earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Forte comes with advanced driver-assistance systems, and the GT with the GT2 Package includes all of them. Standard features include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and 911 Connect.

There are a couple of caveats to keep in mind: the automatic emergency braking system works only at lower speeds, and adaptive cruise control does not bring the car to a full stop. The lane-keeping and lane-centering systems work well, but they shut off if you do not keep your hands on the wheel.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Forte or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its turbocharged GT character and strong value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $11,348, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $12,494 average.
• It was completely redesigned and offers strong practicality and value.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better pick if you want the Forte’s strongest mix of value, style, and available performance. If your priority is simply spending less, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly route and still gives you the core Forte strengths.
