Used 2022 Kia Forte for Sale nearBaton Rouge, LA

How much does the 2022 Kia Forte cost?

Prices have softened 8.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,228 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Forte earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Forte’s appeal is rooted in its spacious cabin, impressive technology, and strong value-for-money positioning. Kia also updated this model year with sharper styling plus new infotainment, driver-assist, and collision-avoidance systems, which helps it feel more modern than its price suggests.

The trade-offs are that the base engine is underwhelming and the car can be noisy. Those drawbacks matter most if you want a quieter, more energetic compact car rather than one that prioritizes equipment and affordability.

With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to find a compelling value.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Forte’s reliability case is helped by its 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year/60,000-mile standard warranty with roadside assistance. The car is also positioned as a practical daily driver with a roomy cabin and a value-focused ownership proposition.

Its standard powertrain is described as underwhelming, but the broader ownership picture is still supported by the warranty coverage and the car’s straightforward compact-car mission. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a neglected example that has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Forte?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual car. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on brakes, tires, electronics, and signs of prior bodywork or uneven wear. It also makes sense to pay close attention to cabin condition and road noise, since those are the kinds of issues that can affect day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: FE, LXS, GT-Line, and GT are the four trims, and the biggest feature gaps show up at the lower end. The FE is the fuel-economy-focused choice, while the LXS is described as the version that gives you everything you need and nothing you don’t. GT-Line adds a sportier look without sporty driving characteristics, and GT brings the most fun plus the most distinctive appearance details.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The GT uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft, and it can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
• Safety package: Across all trims, standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. GT-Line and GT add active blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, and Safe Exit Warning.
• Infotainment: FE and LXS get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT-Line and GT move to a 10.25-inch display, but CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable; those trims also add SiriusXM, voice recognition, and Kia Connect connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The FE is rated at 35 mpg combined and up to 41 mpg on the highway. The LXS and GT-Line are rated at 33 mpg combined. The GT is rated at 26 mpg combined with the manual transmission and 30 mpg combined with the DCT.

Which 2022 Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Forte is offered in 4 trim levels: FE, LXS, GT-Line, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• FE: This is the efficiency-first choice, and it makes the most sense if your priority is keeping purchase price and fuel use as low as possible. It also gives you wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a strong everyday convenience feature at this price point.
• LXS: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it keeps the wireless smartphone integration and adds the core equipment balance many buyers want without pushing the price too high. If you want the simplest recommendation, this is the one to start with.
• GT-Line: Choose this if you want the sportier look and the added safety and tech upgrades that come with the trim. It is a good fit if appearance and extra features matter more to you than the lowest possible price.
• GT: This is the enthusiast-leaning choice, with the turbocharged engine, available manual transmission, sport-tuned suspension, and the most distinctive hardware. It is the right pick if you want the most engaging Forte and are willing to accept the trade-offs in ride firmness and brake performance.

GT-Line and GT also bring the added safety hardware noted above, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, and Safe Exit Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Forte?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,228 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,339, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Forte's resale value?

The current average of $16,339 sits slightly below last year's $17,947.

That price movement suggests the Forte has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it easier to sell if you price it competitively. For future sellers, the current trend also means you may need to be realistic about expectations if you plan to trade or list the car soon.

The good news is that the Forte’s value-focused reputation and broad appeal can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Strong condition and a clean history will matter more when the market is already leaning lower.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte safe?

The 2022 Kia Forte earns a four-star overall crash protection rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives its crashworthiness and driving assist systems high marks.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Across all trim levels, standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. GT-Line and GT add active blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, and Safe Exit Warning.

The main caveat is that the NHTSA result is not class-leading, and the source material specifically notes an issue related to elevated potential for rear passenger injury in a side impact. IIHS testing is also incomplete for the revised LED headlights on the GT.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Forte or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Kia updated this year with sharper styling plus new infotainment, driver-assist, and collision-avoidance systems.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $18,232, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $16,339 average.
• It offers more for the money without feeling like a stripped-down budget pick.

The 2022 is the better buy if you want the lower price, strong inventory, and updated features without stretching your budget. If you can spend more and want a newer model-year alternative with a slightly more polished value proposition, the 2023 is worth a look.
