How much does the 2020 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 7.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,588 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda Pilot earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, responsive handling, and overall comfort. They also highlight its performance and fuel efficiency, while noting that it remains practical for everyday family use.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and interior materials that can feel cheap. The Pilot is best if you want a three-row SUV that prioritizes usefulness, comfort, and family-friendly space over flash.

With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for comfort, performance, and fuel efficiency. The review summary also suggests that many owners feel confident in the Pilot’s day-to-day usefulness over time.

The V6 powertrain is described as stout and well suited to real-world driving, which supports a sense of dependable everyday operation. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior use and maintenance history match the vehicle’s condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Pilot?

At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, interior wear, and any evidence that the vehicle was used heavily for family hauling or towing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, push-button start, power locks, and power windows with a one-touch driver’s window. The EX adds remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED fog lights, Smart Entry, tri-zone climate control, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a power moonroof, second-row in-door sunshades, and a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat. The Touring adds 20-inch alloy wheels, integrated roof rails, blue ambient interior lighting, an upgraded stereo, and courtesy approach lights. The Elite adds power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats. The Black Edition carries nearly the same content as the Elite with unique blacked-out styling.
• Powertrain: A 3.5-liter V6 powers every trim and makes 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available, and the 6-speed automatic is used on LX, EX, and EX-L trims while the Touring, Elite, and Black Edition get a 9-speed automatic. The 9-speed is described as more refined and better for fuel economy.
• Safety package: HondaSensing is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Front and side-impact airbags, child-seat anchors, Vehicle Stability Assist, and traction control are also standard. Front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are optional.
• Infotainment: The LX uses a 5-inch color LCD screen with a 215-watt, 7-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and a USB port. All other trims get an 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Cabin Control Remote Capability are included on all but the LX, while navigation, rear-seat entertainment, and a wall-style power outlet are optional on the EX-L and standard on the Touring, Elite, and Black Edition.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient setup is the FWD 9-speed configuration at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. AWD with the 9-speed returns 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined. The 6-speed FWD setup returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined, while the 6-speed AWD setup returns 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda Pilot is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Pilot, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, yet you miss out on the larger touchscreen and most of the convenience and connectivity upgrades found higher up the range.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED fog lights, Smart Entry, tri-zone climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats. It gives you the most useful everyday upgrades without pushing the price too far.
• EX-L: This trim is the right move if you want a more upscale family SUV. Leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a power moonroof, and second-row sunshades make it feel more premium and easier to live with.
• Touring: This trim adds larger wheels, roof rails, ambient lighting, an upgraded stereo, and more standard tech. It makes sense if you want a more fully equipped Pilot and are willing to pay for it.
• Elite: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with a panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and power-folding mirrors. It is the most comfortable and feature-rich version before the Black Edition.
• Black Edition: Choose this if you want the Elite’s equipment with a darker appearance package and unique styling details.

HondaSensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up trims for the core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,588 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,299, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $22,299 sits slightly below last year's $24,145.

That decline suggests the Pilot has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice.

Higher-spec trims with stronger equipment may be easier to market later, but the broader price trend shows that buyers have become more selective. If you maintain the vehicle well and keep documentation organized, you can help protect value better than the market average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2020 Honda Pilot earns a five-star overall crash test rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

HondaSensing is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Front and side-impact airbags, child-seat anchors, Vehicle Stability Assist, and traction control are also standard.

Front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so you may want to prioritize a higher trim or a well-equipped example if those features matter to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the roomy cabin, adult-friendly third row, and standard safety focus that define the Pilot.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,962, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,299 average.
• It leans more toward interior usefulness, powertrain, and straightforward technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because pricing has eased and the core family-friendly strengths remain intact. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the better secondary path for buyers who want to compare against a slightly fresher alternative.
