How much does the 2020 GMC Acadia cost?

Prices have softened 10.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,677 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia a good car?

Yes — the 2020 GMC Acadia earns a 4.94/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise the smooth and quiet ride, spacious interior, and impressive features. The upscale Denali trim is also a recurring favorite for its more luxurious feel, and many owners appreciate the comfort and design for family trips.

On the trade-off side, the expert review points to fairly pedestrian performance and notes that advanced safety features are not standard. That fits the Acadia’s role as a family-oriented midsize three-row SUV that emphasizes comfort and usability more than excitement.

With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting a smooth, quiet ride and comfort that makes the Acadia easy to live with over time. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the SUV as dynamically agreeable and easy to use day to day.

GMC also includes the first maintenance visit at no charge, which helps soften early ownership costs a bit. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history justify the asking price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Acadia?

At 68% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example or one with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Acadia comes in SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trim levels. The base SL is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more upscale materials and equipment; Denali models stand out for their more premium cabin treatment, and the AT4 brings a more rugged look and greater off-roading capability.
• Powertrain: Lower trims use a 193-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, SLT gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 230 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque, and AT4 and Denali use a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. All three engines pair with a nine-speed automatic, and the V6 is described as smooth, refined, and effortless.
• Safety package: The base Acadia SL includes blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning, but forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require at least SLT or AT4, and those features are part of an optional Driver Alert Package that also adds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, pedestrian braking, parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a head-up display.
• Infotainment: Every 2020 Acadia includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and GMC Connected Services with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Versions with an 8-inch touchscreen get a higher-resolution display, a simplified interface, and improved voice recognition, and the SUV also offers USB-C ports, an optional wireless charging pad, a high-definition surround-view camera, and a rear camera mirror.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 21 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes 20.1 mpg in primarily FWD use.

Which 2020 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2020 GMC Acadia is offered in 5 trim levels: SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Acadia lineup and can live without the extra comfort and safety content found higher up.
• SLE: This trim is the next step up and is the better starting point if you want a more usable everyday Acadia without jumping straight to the pricier versions.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and unlocks more of the safety equipment that isn’t standard on the base model.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged personality and greater off-roading capability that GMC built into this trim, along with the V6 powertrain.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale cabin treatment and the strongest premium feel in the lineup.

For safety, note that forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require SLT or AT4 at a minimum, and the enhanced automatic emergency braking system is exclusive to Denali.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,677 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,007, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $20,007 sits slightly below last year's $22,436.

That decline suggests the Acadia has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current average can make it harder to recover as much value later unless the vehicle is especially well kept and well equipped.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that condition and trim matter more when the market is already trending down. Well-maintained examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than average, but broad price pressure can still weigh on resale.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia safe?

The 2020 Acadia earns five-star ratings in most NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating. It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

GMC includes a rear-seat reminder system, Teen Driver technology, automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning as standard equipment. Forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require at least SLT or AT4, and the more advanced automatic emergency braking system is exclusive to Denali.

The main caveat is that advanced driver-assistance coverage is limited for a vehicle in this class, and the expert review specifically calls out that the Acadia is falling behind in customer access to ADAS features. IIHS testing is also incomplete for this model year.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 refresh adds bolder styling, a new AT4 trim, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a nine-speed automatic, and updated technology.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,175, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,007 average.
• It feels more upscale and distinctive than many other three-row midsize SUVs.

The bottom line: If you want the newer styling, updated tech, and broader trim mix, the 2020 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Acadia’s upscale, family-friendly character.
