Summary
With 216 currently listed for sale near Nashville, TN and an average price of $14,900.00, 25.0% of 2020 Dodge Durangos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Dodge Durango 4.56 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Dodge Durango stands out by blending three-row SUV practicality with Dodge’s muscle-car personality. Even though it is a seven-passenger family hauler, it wears eye-catching styling cues and is offered in a number of high-horsepower trims that match the look. That combination gives it a distinctive place in the segment, especially for buyers who want something more performance-oriented than a typical family SUV.
It also brings several practical strengths to the table. The Durango offers multiple powertrain options, easy-to-use technology, and a spacious cabin, which helps it appeal to shoppers who need room without giving up character. At the same time, it is described as showing signs of aging and feeling a bit dated compared with segment leaders, and its usability is said to trail vehicles like the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Kia Telluride. Advanced safety features are not standard, and its styling is also called uninspired in one assessment, so the Durango’s appeal depends on whether buyers value its performance-focused identity more than maximum modern polish.

Like the overall design and look of this vehicle, it has a stylish appearance. The exterior is very attractive and clean, the interior is just as impressive. Although I’ve never actually seen it in person I’ve seen other versions (different colors), very sleek. Exceptional quality for the mileage. It could be a little less expensive, but the way everything is more expensive today it seems like a deal.

Not a good value car is missing middle console and parts are hanging. And the inside panels looks like it might him been submerged in water!!

Initially, looked good from the outside. Inside and test drive was a different story. Formerly a police vehicle. Rear seats didn't fold, had steel frame for the cage still installed. Back storage area floor is all steel. Took it for a short test drive and the front end shook like crazy. No thanks.

Great all around vehicle. Can tow pretty much any small to medium sized car, hauls anything you can imagine once you fold the 2nd and 3rd row seats down, including a full sized treadmill! Comfortable family vehicle that gets good mileage for its size with the cylinder deactivation feature.

The user feedback also points to strong towing ability and performance, which fits the Durango’s family-hauler-with-attitude mission. In context, that makes it a good fit if you want three-row practicality without giving up character.
The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and the styling is described as dated and uninspired in places. Even so, the market still shows 31.9% good or great deals, which helps if you’re shopping selectively.
Is the 2020 Dodge Durango reliable?
Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights a spacious, comfortable SUV that feels smooth to drive and capable in everyday use, which supports the idea that it can be dependable for family duty. The expert assessment also points to a solid, easy-to-use package with multiple powertrain choices and a straightforward ownership experience. The Durango’s practical strengths and broad appeal suggest it can be a vehicle you count on, especially if you choose carefully.
If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot more than the badge alone.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Durango?
At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment level matches the trim being advertised. Because safety features are not standard across the lineup, it’s also worth confirming exactly which driver-assistance items are installed.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SXT starts with 18-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, manually adjustable front seats, a 7-inch digital instrument panel screen, dual USB ports, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a six-speaker stereo. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a sport-inspired grille, remote start, LED fog lights, dual exhaust, and a power rear liftgate.
- Powertrain: The SXT, GT, and Citadel use a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The R/T uses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, while the SRT uses a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
- Safety package: The Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision avoidance, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection are also available, but these features are optional rather than standard.
- Infotainment: The SXT and GT use a 7-inch touchscreen, while an 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard on the other trims and optional on the GT. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system does not require much learning time.
- Fuel efficiency: The base V6 with RWD returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined. With AWD, it returns 18/25/21 combined. The 5.7-liter V8 returns 14/22/17, and the SRT returns 13/19/15.
Which 2020 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?
The 2020 Dodge Durango is offered in 5 trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, and SRT.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SXT is the value starting point, but it lacks the larger touchscreen and the more upscale features found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The GT is the best all-around pick if you want a stronger feature set, including remote start, LED fog lights, dual exhaust, and a power rear liftgate.
- Premium/top trim: The Citadel is the most comfort-focused choice, adding chrome exterior touches, polished wheels, a power moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs, and premium leather upholstery.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims is positioned as an off-road-focused choice for typical daily driving.
The Technology Group is worth considering if you want adaptive cruise control, forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Dodge Durango?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,348 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,471.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Dodge Durango's resale value?
The current average of $21,475 sits slightly below last year's $23,657.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, trim desirability, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Higher-spec versions with stronger equipment and broader appeal should be easier to move than a tired example with missing features or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Dodge Durango safe?
The Durango earns a four-star rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash testing and four-star ratings in all other phases. It also earned Good scores in all IIHS crash tests except driver’s side small-front overlap testing, where it received Moderate.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The Durango comes with front- and side-impact airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and trailer sway control. Rear parking sensors are available on the SXT and standard on all other trims, while the R/T, Citadel, and SRT add front- and rear parking sensors. The Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision avoidance, and lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-path detection are also available.
The main caveat is that high-tech driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard, so you should verify exactly what’s installed on any used example.
Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Dodge’s 2020 lineup keeps the Durango’s performance-first personality while offering multiple powertrains and easy-to-use tech.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,632, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $21,475 average.
- It adds the new SRT Hellcat, bringing far more power to the lineup.
The bottom line: If you want the better value and can live with the Durango’s dated feel, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for the next year’s added performance and updates, the 2021 is the stronger upgrade path. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2020’s softer pricing makes it the more practical choice.
