The 2020 Colorado also benefits from a broad spread of powertrains and trims. Rear-drive trucks came with either a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine or a 3.6-liter V6 in the W.T. and L.T. trim levels, while the Z71 and ZR2 were four-wheel-drive only and used the V6 as their base engine. The sport-oriented Z71 added an off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, unique wheels with all-terrain tires, automatic climate control, driver power lumbar control, and wireless charging. At the top of the line, the ZR2 brought a Multimatic DSSV Damping System, increased ground clearance and track width, a spray-on bedliner, unique front styling, a black rear bumper, wheel flares, larger 265/65R17 all-terrain tires, leather front seats, and a four-way power passenger seat. For buyers who want a midsize pickup with real off-road hardware and a useful cabin, that makes the Colorado especially appealing.
There are also a few drawbacks to keep in mind. The Colorado’s early transmission woes are a major concern in this generation, with models built from 2014 to 2019, and even a few later ones, having recurring issues with their eight-speed automatic transmissions. The truck also does not offer the breadth and quality of active safety systems that Toyota offered standard in this era. Even so, the 2020 Colorado remains a solid companion and a good value for the money, especially in its mid-range and high trims, where it delivers a strong balance of performance and brawn.

This truck has more bells and whistles than the one I traded. Gotta get used to those. Not fond of the mirrors not being electric, but I can get past that. It has a couple of deep scratches in the paint that can be fixed. Based on the overall price I’m paying, I’m satisfied.

I got a great value on this vehicle from an individual. That is the main reason for buying it, although I had seen the reviews about it being a great vehicle. It is not a smooth ride - I call it rough and ready. But it gets around 23 mpg on average. It has a V6 and an automatic transmission. I wish it came with Sirius XM radio, but I can use Android Auto and the app on my phone to listen to my favorite XM stations.
