How much does the 2020 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 9.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,045 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura MDX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, safety features, and comfort, and many also like the power it provides for family use. The MDX’s appeal is strongest if you want a three-row luxury SUV that balances comfort, convenience, and technology rather than chasing one standout specialty.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is uninspired, and the technology feels outdated. Even so, the MDX’s broad usefulness and loyal following make it a sensible pick if you value practicality in a luxury package.

With 35.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing the MDX as a vehicle they can count on for family duty. The expert review also emphasizes solid performance and a well-rounded package, which supports the sense that the MDX is built for steady long-term use.

The ownership picture is helped by the MDX’s strong reputation for durability, but used buyers should still watch for wear on higher-mileage examples and verify maintenance history carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura MDX?

At 63.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, prior repairs, and signs of uneven wear, since those details matter more when a meaningful share of inventory has accident history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX is nicely equipped, but it lacks the special tech extras that define the higher packages. The Technology Package adds navigation, parking sensors, and premium audio, while the Advance Package adds a surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and additional comfort features.
• Powertrain: The MDX comes with a 3.5-liter V6 making 290 horsepower, paired with a nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. A Sport Hybrid version is also mentioned, with a 3.0-liter V6 and three electric motors.
• Safety package: Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is added with the Technology Package, and Head-Up Warning comes with the Advance Package.
• Infotainment: The base model includes an 8.0-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, text and email capability, five USB ports, SiriusXM, and an eight-speaker audio system. Higher packages add navigation, larger screens, and upgraded audio.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel-drive models are rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, while SH-AWD models get 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. The Sport Hybrid is rated at 26 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Which 2020 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base MDX, Technology Package, Advance Package, and Entertainment Package.

Here's the short version:

• base MDX: This is the best-value starting point if you want the MDX’s core strengths without paying for extras. It already includes standard safety tech, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the basic luxury features that make the MDX appealing.
• Technology Package: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of equipment and value. It adds navigation, parking sensors, premium audio, and blind-spot monitoring, making it the most well-rounded upgrade.
• Advance Package: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including the surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and Head-Up Warning.
• Entertainment Package: This is the right pick if rear-seat entertainment matters to you, since it adds the DVD rear entertainment system and wireless headphones on top of the eligible packages.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,045 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,462, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $23,462 sits slightly below last year's $25,788.

That decline suggests the MDX has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you plan to sell soon. A lower current average price can make the vehicle easier to move, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to attract attention.

If you own one, strong condition and a clean history will matter more than ever in protecting value. Well-kept examples should still hold appeal because the MDX has broad family-suv demand and a loyal audience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX safe?

The 2020 Acura MDX earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and “good” ratings from IIHS across all crash-test categories, with “acceptable” headlights and “superior” front crash prevention.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is added with the Technology Package, and Head-Up Warning comes with the Advance Package.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 MDX combines spaciousness, standard advanced safety features, and a well-rounded luxury-suv package.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $21,057, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $23,462 average.
• It emphasizes smooth ride, spaciousness, and reliable performance.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path.
