Is the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Tiguan’s spaciousness, good value, tech, comfort, handling, and fuel economy, with the panoramic sunroof also standing out as a favorite feature. Is the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise for the Tiguan’s comfort, value, and trouble-free day-to-day use. The strongest long-term ownership case comes from the combination of satisfied owners and practical strengths that tend to matter after the novelty wears off. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan?

At 67.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was minor or structural. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior condition, and any signs of uneven wear that could hint at harder use. Because this model is valued for comfort and space, make sure the cabin, seats, and electronics all work as expected before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,300 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.88% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,010, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $14,010 sits slightly below last year's $15,720.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has become more affordable for buyers, which can also mean sellers need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, strong condition and a clean history matter more when the market has softened. Well-kept examples should still attract interest because shoppers continue to value the Tiguan’s space and practicality.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $12,249, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $14,010 average.
• It emphasizes cargo space and backseat room.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $15,435, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $14,010 average.
• It adds rare third-row practicality in a larger package.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the best fit if you want a balanced mix of value, owner satisfaction, and everyday practicality. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 is the smarter price-first alternative; if you want more space and can spend more, the 2020 is the better step up.
