CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Toyota Corolla

Summary
With 2,042 currently listed for sale and an average price of $15,020, 31.2% of 2019 Toyota Corolla listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Toyota Corolla 4.56 / 5 stars.
54.5% of 2019 Toyota Corolla listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Toyota Corolla stands out as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact car that leans hard into value rather than flash. It has a reputation for reliability, low running costs, and comfort, and it is designed to be straightforward to drive and own. For buyers who want a sensible everyday car with broad appeal, that combination is a major part of its charm.
What makes this generation distinctive is the amount of choice it offers compared with earlier Corollas. The Corolla sedan and Corolla hatchback are both available, the Corolla Hybrid is offered only as a sedan, and the GR Corolla is only available as a hatchback. Most versions use front-wheel drive, while the sedan and hybrid models are also available with all-wheel drive. The hybrid pairs a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors for 121 combined horsepower and 52 mpg combined fuel economy, while gas models came with either a 1.8-liter engine making 139 horsepower or a 2.0-liter engine making 169 horsepower, depending on trim level.
The 2019 Corolla also benefits from a solid equipment list and a reputation for being well engineered. From the start, the entry-level sedan included LED headlights and tail lights, a reversing camera, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, a seven-inch touchscreen, and voice recognition as standard. At the same time, it is still a Corolla, so it is not trying to be especially exciting or luxurious, and some buyers may find it bland or wish for more convenience features. Even so, for shoppers who value dependability, efficiency, and an easy ownership experience, the 2019 Toyota Corolla makes a strong case for itself.

This car is a solid purchase. The added safety features such as Toyota safety sense to prevent lane drift and adaptive cruise control make this an even more desirable model. This car is a perfect fit for my driving needs.

If youre looking for something simple and affordable that gets you from point A to point B, the 2019 Toyota Corolla is it. It has a good sized touch screen with radio, blue tooth, and settings controls. You can play music, listen to texts, reply, and take calls without any trouble or needing to look at your phone. The car has a few cool safety features such as lane detection, sensing if youre needing to brake to avoid an accident, and an anti theft gps tracking system that you can manage through an app on your phone (which is also useful in a large parking lot). Its not the most exciting car Ive driven, but the great gas mileage pretty much makes up for that. Its easily maneuverable. It doesnt have a ton of buttons like most other newer cars, which is alright because who actually cares to learn the use of 50 different buttons (I dont). I do find myself missing power controlled seat adjustment, sometimes. But for the price, and long term cost to gas and maintain the car, its a great car.

Handles very well on the road. Sleek/stylish appearance and great safety features. The SE Sport mode gives a nice little boost when needed. Very pleased overall.

Great turning radius and smooth ride. Has really good acceleration. My husband wants the manual transmission...it is harder to find.

There are 2,045 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and condition.
Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.56/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its affordability, reliability, and excellent gas mileage, and many also like its strong safety features and ease of use. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a practical everyday car with broad appeal and low-stress ownership. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, and drivers also describe it as dependable and easy to live with over time. The same reviews point to low running costs and trouble-free everyday use, which is exactly what many used-car buyers want from a compact sedan or hatchback. For used buyers, that usually means lower long-term ownership risk if you choose a well-kept example.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Corolla?
At 54.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage matches the seller’s disclosure. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for uneven wear, repair quality, and signs of poor maintenance. Focus on overall condition first, since a clean-looking Corolla can still hide issues that matter over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Corolla?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

- Inventory: There are 2,045 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.53% year-over-year.

What is the 2019 Toyota Corolla's resale value?
The current average of $15,021 sits slightly above last year's $14,795.
That modest increase suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you buy carefully and keep the car in good condition, you should have a decent chance of preserving value better than with a less in-demand compact car. Strong pricing also helps support resale if you decide to sell after a few years.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.53% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $16,742, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,021 average.
- It adds a more stylish design and a more polished feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a lower average price. If you can stretch for a newer model and want a more refined look and feel, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
