Used 2019 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearAurora, IL

How much does the 2019 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 11.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,350 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 4.78/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, safety features, and family-friendly space, and they also like the stylish design and driving experience. The Ascent’s standard all-wheel drive and roomy three-row layout make it especially appealing if you want a practical SUV for people and cargo.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and a powertrain that some owners wish felt stronger. In other words, it fits best if you value everyday usability, confidence in bad weather, and family-hauling versatility more than outright performance.

The market also looks workable, with 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2019 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with repeated praise for comfort and family usefulness. The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of durability by noting Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged boxer engine, and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

That said, some owners do mention reliability concerns, so a careful used-car inspection still matters. For you, the key is to verify maintenance history and look closely at how the vehicle has been used and cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any specific listing, because a clean market average does not guarantee a clean individual vehicle. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you plan to use the Ascent for family travel or towing. Focus on cabin condition, seat wear, and how well the vehicle’s features and electronics operate.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim gives you 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, satellite radio, Bluetooth, 4 USB ports, 19 cupholders, and 3-zone climate control with vents for all three rows. Premium adds a windshield de-icer, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, upgraded stain-resistant cloth upholstery, 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability, second-row climate controls, an 8-inch touchscreen, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Limited adds 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights that respond to steering inputs, a power liftgate, leather seating, heated first- and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and more premium interior trim. Touring adds satin chrome side mirrors with integrated turn signals, chrome door handles, ventilated front seats, woodgrain interior accents, an upgraded auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink buttons, a 120-volt outlet, and a 180-degree front-view camera.
• Powertrain: The Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. It delivers strong pickup for city and highway driving, and it offers 8.7 inches of ground clearance.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard on all trims and includes pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Premium, Limited, and Touring add blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert, while Limited and Touring also include automatic high beams and reverse automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All other trims get an 8-inch touchscreen. The system includes physical buttons and dials for easier use, and the available Technology Package adds navigation, a Harman Kardon premium stereo, a panoramic moonroof, and real-time traffic and weather updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent is rated at 21 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. Limited and Touring drop to 20/26/22.

Which 2019 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Premium, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the Ascent’s core strengths without stretching your budget. You still get standard all-wheel drive, EyeSight safety tech, three-row seating, and a well-equipped cabin, so it covers the essentials well.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated front seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability, an 8-inch touchscreen, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Limited: This is the right choice if you want a more upscale feel, with leather seating, heated first- and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, and additional driver-assistance features. It also supports the available Technology Package.
• Touring: This is the top-end pick if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including ventilated front seats, woodgrain accents, a 120-volt outlet, and a 180-degree front-view camera.

EyeSight is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert start on Premium and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,350 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,502, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $17,507 sits slightly below last year's $19,705.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you can reduce the impact of future depreciation. Trim, mileage, condition, and maintenance history will matter a lot when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2019 Subaru Ascent earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is standard on all trims and includes pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Premium, Limited, and Touring add blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert, while Limited and Touring also include automatic high beams and reverse automatic emergency braking.

The main safety caveat is that some of the more helpful driver-assistance features are not standard on the base trim, so you should confirm the equipment on any listing you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings standard all-wheel drive and standard EyeSight safety tech to Subaru’s three-row SUV lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,894, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,507 average.
• It adds extra space for people, pets, and cargo.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
