The 2019 Ram ProMaster City is the smallest van in the vehicle’s lineup. With a wheelbase that measures 122.4 inches, it’s in a class with the Ford Transit Connect and Nissan NV200. All the same, it comes full of features designed to help owners utilize its compact footprint as efficiently as possible. Ram offers the ProMaster City in two body styles. The Tradesman trim has two front seats, providing 131.7 cubic feet cargo capacity and the ability to fit 48.4 inches of cargo between the wheel wells, plus optional windows for the 60/40 split-folding rear doors. Wagon has side glass on the side doors and split-folding seating for five. Both styles are available in Tradesman and SLT trims. The official fuel economy numbers aren’t in for the 2019 model, but they should be identical to last year’s numbers, which are 21 miles per gallon city, 28 highway, and 24 combined, along with a range of up to 448 total miles. Safety features on the Ram ProMaster City are limited to a standard reversing camera and airbags, with as many as seven on the Wagon model. As it’s largely a commercial vehicle, the van hasn’t been crash-tested by any major safety agency. The Ram ProMaster is part of a newer school of thought that trades the lumbering, massive, body-on-frame vans of yore for a smarter, smaller and well-packaged solution. Ideal for in-town deliveries or durable people-carrying, the 2019 Ram ProMaster City is a solid choice on the market.
