Is the 2019 Kia Soul a good car?

The 2019 Kia Soul is a practical, value-focused choice if you want something small that still feels roomy and distinctive. It earns a 3.86/5 user rating, and owners commonly praise its roomy interior, smooth and quiet ride, and strong value for a compact car. The Soul’s use case is straightforward: it works well if you want an affordable daily driver with useful space and a little more personality than a typical economy car. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Kia Soul reliable?

The 2019 Kia Soul stands out because it blends quirky styling with real everyday usefulness, but condition matters on the used market. Owners often describe it as a great value with decent performance, and many appreciate its smooth, quiet ride and roomy cabin. That said, some reviewers mention concerns about used-model quality and costly repairs after purchase, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition. For long-term ownership, a careful inspection is especially important if you want to reduce the risk of surprise expenses.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Soul?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm that the car’s accident and title records match the seller’s description. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair, since those details can reveal whether a car has been properly restored. You should also focus on overall wear inside and out, because a clean-looking listing can still hide expensive issues if the condition has been misrepresented.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,457 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,777, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $10,858 sits slightly below last year's $11,295.

That price movement suggests the Soul is holding a fairly accessible position in the market, which can help keep it attractive to future buyers. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in good condition, you should have a reasonable path to resale later. The main risk is paying too close to the upper end of the range, since softer pricing can make it harder to recover your full purchase cost.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.87% compared with last year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $12,705, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $10,858 average.
• It adds a more refined, SUV-like feel with easier cross-shopping appeal.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better starting point if you want the lower purchase price and are willing to shop carefully for condition. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer-feeling alternative with a more polished overall presentation, the 2020 is the stronger secondary path.
