How much does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 10.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,784 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.39/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features. They also point to strong value and performance compared with competitors, which fits an SUV that is meant to work well both as an everyday driver and as a capable all-around utility vehicle. At the same time, some owners note pricing concerns and missing features they expected at the price point.

33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.39/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights a smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features, along with value and performance that compare well with rivals. That kind of praise suggests you can count on the Grand Cherokee to deliver the broad capability and everyday usability buyers expect from it.

The expert drive notes also describe it as a vehicle that performs admirably both on and off the road, which reinforces its dependable all-around character. If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific example you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by harder use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model can be used for both daily driving and more demanding terrain, condition matters a lot: pay close attention to how the drivetrain, brakes, and interior wear reflect the way the vehicle was used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo starts the lineup with a 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add Jeep’s more sophisticated Uconnect system, better graphics, faster response, and more upscale materials. The Limited X stands out as a value-oriented sweet spot with the performance vented hood, revised bumpers, unique 20-inch wheels, and special heritage-pattern leather seats.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic. You can also find a 360-hp 5.7-liter V8, a 425-hp 6.4-liter V8 in the SRT, and a 707-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the Trackhawk.
• Safety package: The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also included, while some features are only available on higher trims or with packages.
• Infotainment: The Laredo gets a 7-inch display, and higher trims can add Uconnect with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation. A 9-speaker Alpine system is available, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon setup appears on higher-priced versions.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert drive notes a combined driving rating of 21 mpg for the V6, with real-world testing returning 18.3 mpg on one loop and 17.4 mpg in city-heavy driving. The Trackhawk averaged 13.1 mpg.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Trailhawk, Summit, Trackhawk, Limited X, Laredo E, X Packages, All-Weather Trail Rated Package, Limited, SRT, and Limited X.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basic Grand Cherokee experience with the 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the nameplate and plan to build up from there, but it is the least equipped starting point.
• Limited X: This is the best-value trim called out in the data. It combines style, equipment, and capability well, and it adds the performance hood, revised bumpers, unique wheels, and special leather trim that make it feel more special without jumping into luxury or performance pricing.
• Summit: Choose this if you want the more luxurious side of the Grand Cherokee lineup. The data positions it as the upscale option, and it fits buyers who care more about premium feel than bargain pricing.
• SRT: This is the performance-focused choice if you want the 425-hp V8 and the associated braking upgrades. It is for buyers who want serious on-road speed rather than just everyday utility.
• Trackhawk: This is the outrageous performance model, with 707 horsepower and a price that can climb well past six figures with options. It is the right pick only if you want maximum performance and are comfortable with the tradeoffs.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Advanced Active Safety Group adds a strong set of driver-assistance features, but crash protection remains a weak point overall.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, which gives you some leverage if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,784 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,970, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $17,970 sits slightly below last year's $19,971.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Grand Cherokee easier to buy now but also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a well-equipped, well-kept example. For a future seller, the key is to buy a version with strong appeal and keep it in clean condition, because the market is still rewarding value and capability.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.39/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver and a Poor rating for the front passenger, and it earns a three-star rollover resistance rating from the federal government.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and available driver assistance can expand to semi-autonomous parallel and perpendicular parking assistance. The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

The weak crash-test results are the main caveat here, so if safety is a top priority, you should be especially selective about the exact vehicle you choose.

Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.39/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its broad capability, smooth ride, and strong technology score.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,125, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,970 average.
• It is described as equally at home in very different driving environments, with a clear split personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger buy because prices are softer and inventory is broad. If you are willing to pay more for the next model year, the 2020 is the better path for shoppers who want to compare a slightly newer example before deciding.
