How much does the 2019 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its impressive features, smooth acceleration, and comfortable interior. The spacious trunk and driving assist features also come up often, which makes it appealing if you want a practical daily driver for errands or longer trips. In use-case terms, it fits you well if you want strong value, useful tech, and a comfortable cabin more than an especially engaging drive.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful market value to find.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with many drivers highlighting its smooth acceleration, comfortable interior, and useful features for daily errands and longer trips. The expert evaluation also frames it as a value-focused car that delivers quality and ownership perks, which supports the idea that it can be a trouble-free choice if you buy a well-kept example.

Hyundai’s warranty coverage and roadside assistance add another layer of confidence for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s basic durability and more about choosing a car with a clean maintenance and accident history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra?

At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or airbag-related repairs. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering. If you’re shopping a higher-mileage example, pay extra attention to how the cabin, electronics, and safety systems have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort, convenience, and safety equipment. The Limited stands out for its upgraded interior feel and richer feature set.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It’s tuned more for everyday commuting than excitement, though the Sport mode can make it feel a bit livelier.
• Safety package: Starting with the SEL trim, you get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot-monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-monitoring system. The Limited adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection enhancement, automatic high-beam headlights, and Safe Exit.
• Infotainment: Non-base versions get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio. The Limited can be upgraded to an 8-inch display with navigation, and it also adds premium audio.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Elantra returns 32 mpg in combined driving, and the test loop returned 29.3 mpg before the trip computer showed 32.4 mpg after a week.

Which 2019 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, Value Edition, Eco, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest price and can live without the extra convenience and safety content found higher up the range.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the core driver-assistance features that make the car easier to live with every day.
• Value Edition: This is a smart pick if you want more comfort and connected-services content without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Eco: Choose this if your priority is efficiency-focused commuting and you want a trim that leans into economy-minded ownership.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich choice, with the strongest mix of comfort, tech, and safety upgrades for buyers who want the most complete Elantra experience.

The safety-package upgrades start with the SEL trim, while the Limited adds the most advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,300 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,313, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $11,313 sits slightly below last year's $12,277.

That decline suggests the Elantra has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it a tougher car to sell at a premium later unless it’s especially clean and well equipped. If you own one, strong condition and desirable features matter more when you’re trying to protect value. A trim with the right safety and tech content should be easier to market than a bare-bones example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2019 Elantra gets top marks across the board from IIHS, except for an Acceptable rating for the accessibility of its LATCH child-seat anchors. The government gives the car a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, thanks to four-star frontal-impact results and a four-star side-impact protection rating for rear-seat occupants.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Starting with the SEL trim, you get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot-monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-monitoring system. The Limited trim adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection enhancement, automatic high-beam headlights, and Safe Exit.

The main caveat is the NHTSA result, which is solid but not class-leading. If safety is a top priority, the higher trims are the ones that give you the fullest driver-assistance package.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The updated model still delivers strong value, but its driving dynamics remain a weak point unless you choose the turbocharged Sport trim.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $13,411, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $11,313 average.
• Free scheduled maintenance is one of its key upgrades.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2019 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and plenty of listings. If you’re willing to spend more for added value features and maintenance perks, the 2020 is the better alternative.
