CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Honda Pilot
overall

Summary
With 1,980 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,858.00, 33.4% of 2019 Honda Pilots for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Honda Pilot 4.9 / 5 stars.
66.9% of 2019 Pilot models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Honda Pilot stands out as a family-focused midsize SUV that blends space, comfort, and a long list of useful features. In the third-generation Pilot, Honda had already moved the model toward a more tech-heavy and safety-conscious formula, and by 2019 it had added a mid-cycle refresh with some exterior styling changes and a new hands-free power tailgate. Honda Sensing was also made standard on all trim levels that year, which helps explain why the Pilot appeals to buyers who want a practical three-row SUV with a strong emphasis on everyday convenience and driver assistance.
It is also notable for how much equipment Honda spread through the lineup. The Pilot offered Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a nine-speed automatic transmission that was tweaked for smoother shifts, and dual automatic climate control. Higher trims brought features such as a multi-view camera system, Trailwatch, rain-sensing wipers, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Honda’s satellite-linked navigation system, while even the base trim included a seven-inch infotainment screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and a suite of active safety aids. That breadth of standard and available technology makes the 2019 Pilot feel well equipped for family duty.
At the same time, the Pilot is not without drawbacks. The source describes this generation as one with transmission complaints, and owner feedback also points to a dull driving experience, some soundproofing concerns, and transmission performance issues. Even so, the 2019 Honda Pilot remains appealing because it combines generous cargo space, a roomy cabin, and a comfortable ride with the kind of everyday features many shoppers want in a used three-row SUV.

The pictures and the definition of this car on Car Gurus was well presented and very accurate . When I actually saw the car, I was well pleased that I was not mislead. I think this car was a good value as it had low miles and had been well kept. It is comparable to a Toyota Highlander, Accura MDX, and Nissan Pathfinder.

How much does the 2019 Honda Pilot cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $20,925 |
| Year-Round Low | $20,728.66 |
| Year-Round High | $22,656.08 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,656 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.64% |
Prices have softened 7.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 2,003 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $20,728.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Honda Pilot a good car?
Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and family-friendly features, and they also value the ample cargo space and comfort in the second and third rows. For you, that makes this a practical choice if you want a roomy three-row SUV with everyday convenience and a comfort-first setup. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Honda Pilot reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience centered on comfort, space, and family use, with many drivers describing the Pilot as a vehicle they can count on for daily duties. The same feedback also points to some transmission performance concerns and minor soundproofing complaints, so reliability here is best understood as strong overall satisfaction with a few known weak spots. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you verify condition carefully and pay close attention to drivetrain behavior.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Pilot?
At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage or repeated claims. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to transmission operation, road noise, and overall cabin condition. Because this model is often bought for family use, you should also focus on wear in the second and third rows, cargo area, and other high-use surfaces.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Pilot?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently while still acting quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,003 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,728.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Honda Pilot's resale value?
The current average of $20,925 sits slightly below last year's $22,656.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on how well your vehicle is maintained and how clean its history remains. A well-kept example should still attract family buyers who value space, comfort, and practicality.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $22,630, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,925 average.
- It adds a more polished overall package with stronger standard safety and broader appeal.
The bottom line: You should start with the 2019 if you want the better value and are willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer model year’s broader standard safety and refinement, the 2020 is the better secondary path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 is the smarter buy as long as you verify the vehicle’s background and inspect it closely.
