How much does the 2019 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 9.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,573 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2019 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Ford Ranger earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its robust performance, advanced technology, responsive engine, towing capacity, and good fuel economy. That lines up with the Ranger’s role as a midsize pickup that focuses on price and power, especially if you want capability without a long list of mechanical choices. You should still weigh the mixed feedback on pricing, interior comfort, and design against the truck’s strong utility case.

30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its robust performance and responsive engine. The same reviews also emphasize good fuel economy and towing ability, which suggests the Ranger can be a trustworthy long-term companion if you value capability and efficiency together. The expert notes also support that view by describing the 2.3-liter EcoBoost as a stout, eager engine and saying there’s no indication of issues so far.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core powertrain and more about condition, prior use, and how hard the truck was worked.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Ranger?

At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing, hauling, or fleet-duty miles. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence of prior body or structural repair. If you’re comparing multiple listings, condition should matter as much as trim and mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is the most stripped-down version, with steel 16-inch wheels, a manual-locking tailgate, cloth upholstery, and a spartan 4-speaker stereo, but it still includes a rear-view camera, USB port, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The XLT adds 17-inch alloys, a 4.2-inch center screen with Ford Sync, an extra USB, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and an upgraded 6-speaker stereo, while the Lariat adds LEDs front and back, leather upholstery, dual-zone auto climate control, an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, and 18-inch alloys.
• Powertrain: You get a single engine and transmission setup: a 2.3-liter EcoBoost paired with a 10-speed transmission. The engine is described as stout and eager, with EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined, 21 city, and 26 highway.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is available on the XL and includes auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and trailer tow monitoring, lane-keep warning and assist, forward and reverse parking sensors, and a 110-volt power outlet. The base XL does not include that package as standard.
• Infotainment: The XLT can be equipped with Ford Sync3, which unlocks Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as Sirius XM. The Ranger also offers a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and the available Bang & Olufsen stereo is a notable upgrade.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ranger returns an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined, with 21 city and 26 highway.

Which 2019 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford Ranger is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with a basic cabin. It still gives you useful standard equipment like a rear-view camera and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and it can be upgraded with Ford Co-Pilot360 for more advanced driver assistance.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more usable tech and comfort mix, including a larger center screen, Ford Sync, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and an upgraded stereo. It also opens the door to Sync3, which adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the most upscale Ranger in the lineup, with leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, and LED lighting front and rear.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is available on the XL, and it adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, parking sensors, and related features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Ranger?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,573 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,524, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $22,524 sits slightly below last year's $24,861.

That decline suggests the Ranger has become more affordable for buyers, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may pressure future resale if prices keep easing. For a seller, the current market means you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially against listings that are already marked as good or great deals. Strong condition and a clean history will matter more when the market is softening.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford Ranger safe?

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and trailer tow monitoring, lane-keep warning and assist, forward and reverse parking sensors, and a 110-volt power outlet. On the base XL, those features are not standard unless you add the package.

The safety write-up also notes a recall tied to the shifter wiring sub-harness, so you should confirm that any used truck has had all recall work completed. Because formal crash-test data is not provided here, your best protection is a careful inspection and a complete service and recall history.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It returns with a single-engine strategy that emphasizes price and power.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $24,317, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $22,524 average.
• It adds a more appealing personality with stylish design and stronger tech appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2020 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019 and shop condition carefully.
