CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 140 currently listed for sale near Tampa, FL and an average price of $16,242, 18.6% of 2019 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
90.7% of 2019 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge stands out as a midsize, two-row SUV that helped define the family-crossover formula. Ford also offers it with an ST trim, adding performance to the Edge’s practical foundation. That combination gives the 2019 Edge a broader appeal than a typical family hauler, since it aims to balance everyday usefulness with a more energetic driving character.
Even so, the Edge feels dated in some respects. Its strongest advantages are the backseat legroom and cargo space buyers need, which make it especially appealing for families and long trips. Owner feedback also points to comfort, features, and strong power as positives, reinforcing the Edge’s role as a roomy and capable choice. At the same time, some reviewers mention sluggish acceleration and missing features such as automatic side mirrors, so the 2019 Edge is best viewed as a practical SUV with a few clear compromises.

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

| Year-Round Low | $15,307 |
| Year-Round High | $16,824 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,811 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.58% |
Prices have softened 8.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 2,772 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, and features, and they also call out the spacious interior and strong power as major strengths. That lines up well with the Edge’s role as a midsize, two-row SUV built for families and long trips, especially if you want roominess and everyday usefulness with a more energetic driving character. Even so, some owners mention sluggish acceleration and missing features like automatic side mirrors, so it makes the most sense if you value space, comfort, and capability over a cutting-edge cabin.
Good and great deals account for 31.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for comfort, strong power, and a spacious cabin that works well for families and long trips. The expert evaluation also describes the non-ST engine as one that “gets the job done and won’t let you down,” which reinforces the sense that the Edge is built to be a trouble-free, long-term companion. If you’re buying used, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that hasn’t been worn down by age, mileage, or neglected maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the cabin electronics, safety systems, and overall condition, since the Edge’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained. Focus especially on signs of wear in the interior and on whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, while the SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Titanium adds 19-inch alloy wheels and makes leather upholstery, wireless charging, and remote start standard, while the ST adds blacked-out styling, 20-inch wheels, and an upgraded exhaust.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The ST uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, paired with the same transmission and AWD.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE and adds adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-liter with front-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The ST returns 19/26/21.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, but it feels the most stripped down because its base infotainment setup is a small 4.2-inch non-touchscreen. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable giving up a lot of convenience and tech.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim because it adds the features most shoppers will actually notice, including dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also opens the door to useful packages like leather upholstery, heated front seats, remote start, and a hands-free power liftgate.
- Titanium: This is the right pick if you want a more upscale feel without going all the way to the ST. It makes leather, wireless charging, remote start, and the 8-inch Sync 3 system standard, so it feels much better equipped than the lower trims.
- ST: This is the performance choice, with the stronger 2.7-liter V6, AWD, sportier styling, and upgraded exhaust. It suits you best if you want the quickest and most distinctive Edge, but it asks for a much higher price.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,772 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,307, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $15,368 sits slightly below last year's $16,811.
That decline suggests the Edge has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and planning to sell later. If prices stabilize, a well-kept example could hold value better than one that’s been neglected or poorly equipped. Trim choice matters too: better-equipped versions tend to be easier to market when it’s your turn to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
The 2019 Ford Edge earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
It comes standard with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It also includes a reversing camera, traction control, and a full complement of front- and side-impact airbags. If you want more advanced assistance, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering on trims above the SE.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford gives you the ST trim, which adds performance to the Edge’s practical two-row SUV formula.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $16,945, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,368 average.
- It adds more standard tech and safety equipment.
The 2019 is the better pick if you want the lower price and still want the Edge’s roomy, practical layout with available performance. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling package and extra standard equipment, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 offers the stronger value case.
