How much does the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 5.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,213 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used-car shoppers.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as a roomy midsize sedan with a more modern feel than earlier Malibus, and its appeal is helped by easy-to-use features and a cabin that feels more polished than its predecessors. It is also a strong value proposition if you want a family sedan without paying the prices of some better-known rivals. With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu is described as having a mixed reliability record overall, even though this generation is the best of the front-wheel-drive Malibus in that regard. That means you should still approach used examples with a careful eye, especially if you plan to keep the car for the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for signs of poor bodywork, uneven panel gaps, or wear that does not match the mileage. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since a clean-looking car can still hide past issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,213 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,705, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $12,795 sits slightly below last year's $13,591.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened enough to give used buyers more leverage today, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your position when it is time to resell. A clean history and good maintenance will matter more if the market stays price-sensitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2019 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan and you find a clean example with a strong service history. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may also be worth comparing, but the 2019 stands out as a balanced choice when you want modern features and a lower used price than many rivals.
