How much does the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 6.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,160 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as a roomy midsize sedan with a more modern feel than earlier Malibus, plus a larger, more open-feeling back seat and a cabin that feels more polished than its predecessors. It also makes sense if you want a family sedan with easy-to-use features and a lower used price than many better-known rivals. With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu had a mixed reliability record overall, even though this generation was the best of the front-wheel-drive Malibus in that regard. For used buyers, that means you should treat condition and maintenance history as especially important when judging long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you commit. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear that could point to past damage or deferred maintenance. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on value and condition, you’ll want to focus on how well the specific car has been cared for rather than assuming every listing is a like-for-like match.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,160 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,622, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $12,622 sits slightly below last year's $13,476.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help you if you buy at the right price and hold the car for a while. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to be more competitive on pricing to move the car quickly. The upside is that a lower entry price can reduce how much value you have left to lose over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want a roomy, value-focused Malibu with modernized styling and a lower used price than many rivals. If you’re especially price-sensitive, nearby model years may also be worth comparing, but the 2019 is a sensible starting point when you want a comfortable midsize sedan and a market that still offers room to shop carefully.
