Is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 4.29/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

You’ll see the appeal in the sporty styling, smooth ride, and advanced technology, and owners also consistently praise the generous cargo and passenger space. The Blazer’s road-focused personality fits you best if you want a midsize 5-passenger crossover that feels more at home on pavement than on rough terrain.

The market also shows 33.5% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find smooth, sporty, and easy to live with over time, while also highlighting the kind of everyday usability that helps a crossover feel dependable. The expert evaluation also describes it as a capable machine with strong road manners, and the powertrain setup is presented as adequate for flat areas and more demanding with the V6.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Blazer’s higher-spec equipment and larger wheels can bring added maintenance and repair costs, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Blazer?

At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment. Pay close attention to tire wear, wheel condition, and any signs of prior bodywork, since the Blazer’s style-focused setup can make cosmetic and suspension issues more expensive to ignore.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim is the one to watch most closely because it misses out on blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while LT, RS, and Premier bring more of the features that make the Blazer feel better equipped.
• Powertrain: The standard 193-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with a 9-speed automatic is described as adequate for flat areas, while the 305-hp 3.6-liter V6 adds stronger acceleration and pairs with available AWD.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on every Blazer except the standard L trim, while adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist start at RS or Premier and cost extra.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s infotainment system is responsive and visually appealing, and the text notes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto use, but it also mentions OnStar capability rather than a free trial subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert testing notes 21 mpg in combined driving for the test vehicle, while also saying the EPA expected that result and that fuel economy drops when you lean on the V6 and AWD setup.

Which 2019 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LT, RS, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the least expensive way into the Blazer, but it’s also the trim where you give up blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the most sense only if you’re focused on the lowest entry price.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it opens the door to more of the Blazer’s useful equipment while still keeping the lineup’s core style and road manners intact.
• RS: This trim is the better pick if you want the sportier personality and are willing to pay more for a more upscale, performance-flavored feel.
• Premier: This is the most upscale version, with the richest interior presentation and the strongest luxury-leaning vibe, but it’s the one most likely to push you into a much higher price range.

For safety equipment, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the L trim, and the more advanced driver-assistance features begin at RS or Premier.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Blazer?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,267 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,636, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $18,636 sits slightly below last year's $20,527.

That decline suggests the Blazer has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one now, the current market gives you a realistic benchmark for setting expectations, especially if your vehicle has higher mileage or visible wear.

The good news is that the Blazer’s strong styling and solid owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than rougher, lower-spec listings.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on every Blazer except the standard L trim, while adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist require RS or Premier and cost extra. That means you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you.

The review also notes that OnStar trial-period features such as automatic crash response and SOS emergency calling are dropped from the new Blazer unless you pay extra. That’s an important ownership consideration if you want the most connected safety setup.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its road-focused character, sporty styling, and strong expert praise for look and feel.

The bottom line: If you want the Blazer’s distinctive styling and road manners, the 2019 is a compelling used buy, especially if you can find a clean example with the equipment you want. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer a better mix of standard features and value, but the 2019 remains the better choice when design and driving character matter most.
