How much does the 2019 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 6.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,440 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The 2019 BMW 3 Series fits you well if you want a compact sport sedan that stays true to BMW’s trim, athletic, premium formula while adding a more advanced digital experience. The overview also frames it as a long-running benchmark in the small sporty-sedan class, so you’re looking at a car with a clear identity rather than a generic luxury sedan.

The market shows 35.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview presents the 2019 3 Series as a refined evolution of BMW’s compact sport-sedan formula, and the expert notes reinforce that it remains a polished, well-executed car. The performance write-up also describes the turbocharged four-cylinder as smooth, full of torque, and sweet-sounding, which supports the sense that the core mechanical package is well sorted.

BMW also includes three years or 36,000 miles of maintenance and four years of unlimited-mile roadside assistance, which helps reduce early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium sedan like this can become expensive if prior maintenance was skipped or if high-end options need repair.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

At 62.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily or shows signs of prior bodywork. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s premium tech and driver-assistance features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The interior is driver-focused and premium, but the base setup can feel less upscale in some touchpoints than you might expect, so check material quality and feature content carefully.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 is described as smooth, full of torque, and sweet-sounding, with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds automatic steering around curves, even on two-lane roads, while blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional.
• Infotainment: BMW’s iDrive system is highly polished, with over-the-air updates, customizable menu tiles, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a digital key option using an NFC-equipped smartphone.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive version is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 highway, and 30 combined, while the all-wheel-drive version is rated at 25 city, 34 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2019 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is offered in 1 trim level: 330i.

Here's the short version:

The 330i is the trim to focus on if you want the core 3 Series experience without chasing expensive extras. It delivers the 255-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, the polished iDrive tech, and the premium driving feel that define this model year. If you want the best value, look for a well-equipped example that keeps the standard Sport trim rather than piling on costly options.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough demand to reward quick action on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,440 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,012, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $20,012 sits slightly below last year's $21,387.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a well-kept, desirable example. A clean history, strong maintenance records, and desirable equipment should matter more when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes forward emergency braking and pedestrian detection, while blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional. The expert safety notes also say the car earned the best ratings in all six crash tests, along with the best ratings for the optional laser headlights and standard forward emergency braking.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• BMW’s software and digital experience are a standout for this year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,354, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,012 average.
• It adds a stronger performance focus and broader comfort appeal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model with a stronger performance emphasis, the 2020 is the alternative to consider.
