How much does the 2019 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 6.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,416 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is framed as a compact sport sedan that stays true to BMW’s traditional formula: trim, athletic, handsome, and premium. It also stands out for its software, with the test-drive summary emphasizing that BMW “ups its software game like none other” for this year, while still keeping the car “pretty good” around that digital upgrade.

For you, that means this model year makes the most sense if you want a small luxury sedan that balances driving character with a more advanced tech experience. 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is presented as a polished, premium sedan with strong execution, and the expert notes reinforce that impression with praise for its engine, chassis, and overall refinement. The performance write-up describes the turbocharged four-cylinder as smooth, full of torque, and sweet-sounding, while also noting that the car is quieter than before and remains a relaxing cruiser.

You also get three years or 36,000 miles of maintenance included, which helps soften early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium, tech-heavy sedan can become expensive if prior maintenance or option choices were neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a long option list. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s premium tech and driver-assistance features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and feature set vary meaningfully by trim, with the base setup described as more stripped back than better-equipped versions. The interior is driver-focused and premium, but some materials are noted as coarse, so you should pay attention to how the specific car was optioned.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 makes 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and the 8-speed automatic is praised for its smooth, intuitive shifts. The write-up also notes more turbo lag at low speeds than before.
• Safety package: The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds automatic steering around curves, even on two-lane roads, and includes infrared eye-movement monitoring. Blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional.
• Infotainment: BMW’s iDrive system is described as superb, with customizable tiles, live info, over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay, a digital key option, and remote camera viewing through the app.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive version is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The xDrive version is rated at 25 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined.

Which 2019 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is offered in 1 trim level: 330i.

Here's the short version:

The 330i is the trim to focus on if you want the core 3 Series experience without chasing expensive extras. It delivers the standard turbocharged four-cylinder, the strong chassis tuning, and the premium tech that define this model year, while avoiding the steep cost of a heavily optioned build. If you want the best value, this is the one to target first.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the most advanced driver-assistance features are optional, so you should verify exactly which systems are installed on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,416 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,157, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $20,157 sits slightly below last year's $21,467.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the car easier to purchase now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing has already adjusted downward, so condition and equipment will matter more when it comes time to list the car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup includes forward emergency braking and pedestrian detection, while blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional. The expert notes also highlight the optional laser headlights and the semi-autonomous steering assistance available with the driver-assistance package.

One important caveat is that the most advanced safety tech is not standard, so you should confirm which systems are fitted on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• BMW’s 2019 software and digital experience are a standout strength.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,598, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,157 average.
• It adds a stronger performance focus and broader appeal through a more comfort-oriented premium sedan setup.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and the tech is a highlight. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer model year’s broader appeal and stronger performance emphasis, the 2020 is the upgrade path.
