How much does the 2019 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,356 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Acura MDX a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user-rated SUV with an 8/10 expert score and an 8.00/10 expert rating overall. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, reliable performance, and V6 power. The MDX also fits you well if you want a practical three-row luxury SUV with comfort and space rather than the newest tech-forward design.

The tradeoffs are clear in the same feedback: the interior can feel less upscale than rivals, and the infotainment system can be frustrating to use. Even so, the combination of comfort, utility, and proven capability makes it appealing if you value a well-rounded family luxury SUV.

36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the MDX as reliable, with dependable performance and a vehicle they can count on over time. The expert review also points to steady refinement and a powertrain that resolves earlier shifting complaints, which supports the sense that this is a mature, well-sorted SUV.

The ownership picture is helped by Acura’s maintenance and service experience, including a free 90-day trial of AcuraLink Connect services and a dealer experience that emphasizes quick scheduled maintenance visits. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright failure and more about whether the vehicle was maintained well and whether its technology and luxury features still meet your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Acura MDX?

At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the MDX is a three-row luxury SUV, you’ll also want to focus on cabin condition, seat wear, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The A-Spec Package adds a more aggressive appearance, unique front bumper design, dark trim elements, and red leather with black Alcantara seats, while the Advance Package adds adaptive damping suspension. The Technology Package is the trim to target if you want blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and a 9-speed automatic transmission. SH-AWD is strongly recommended if you want torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and sharper handling.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard on all trims and includes the brand’s core driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert require the Technology Package.
• Infotainment: The MDX uses dual screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, improved lower-screen graphics and responsiveness, and voice recognition. The screens are small for the class, and the system can be frustrating to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 21 mpg in combined driving for the tested MDX, and the Sport Hybrid is noted for better city fuel economy.

Which 2019 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2019 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: Technology Package, A-Spec Package, Advance Package, and Sport Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Technology Package: This is the best-value choice if you want the important safety upgrades, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, without moving too far up the price ladder. It also keeps the MDX’s core comfort and utility intact.
• A-Spec Package: Choose this if you want the sportier look and a more distinctive cabin, including the red leather and black Alcantara interior. It’s the style-forward pick, but it’s best for buyers who value appearance and feel as much as equipment.
• Advance Package: This is the trim to consider if ride quality matters most, since it adds adaptive damping suspension. It suits you best if you want the most polished comfort-oriented version of the gas model.
• Sport Hybrid: Pick this only if you specifically want the hybrid powertrain and its stronger efficiency focus. It’s the most specialized version, and the expert review treats it as the enthusiast’s choice.

AcuraWatch is standard across the lineup, but the Technology Package is still the key trim for the extra blind-spot and rear cross-traffic safety equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,356 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,057, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $21,057 sits slightly below last year's $23,076.

That decline suggests the MDX has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less ideal if you’re thinking about future trade-in value. A lower current price can also make the SUV easier to move later if you buy at the right number today.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the MDX still has broad appeal because it combines space, comfort, and a strong reputation for reliability. That helps support demand, even if the market has cooled from last year’s level.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Acura MDX safe?

The 2019 Acura MDX earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard on all MDX trims and covers the brand’s core driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. If you want blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, you need the Technology Package.

The safety review also notes that the MDX’s headlights are excellent and include automatic high-beam activation, but they do not adapt to curves. A caveat worth keeping in mind is that AcuraWatch can feel less refined than newer systems, especially with adaptive cruise control behavior.

Should I buy a 2019 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 update brings improved interior materials, transmission changes, and an A-Spec Package addition.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,462, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $21,057 average.
• It adds a stronger emphasis on standard advanced safety and a more modern-feeling overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year feel, the 2020 is the cleaner upgrade path.

How does the 2019 Acura MDX compare to the 2019 Honda Pilot?

Our experts score the 2019 Acura MDX 8/10 and the 2019 Honda Pilot 8.3/10. The MDX gives you the more upscale luxury-brand experience, stronger horsepower, and a more premium-feeling cabin, while the Pilot undercuts it on price and offers slightly better value in the used market. If you want the Acura badge and a more refined driving feel, the MDX makes sense; if you want maximum practicality for less money, the Pilot is the easier recommendation.
