Is the 2018 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Toyota Sequoia is described as a model that benefits from dependable powertrains and a reputation for durability, which is a major reason it remains attractive on the used market. Its truck-based construction and proven hardware support that reputation, especially if you want something built for long-term use rather than novelty. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure prior wear, rust, and maintenance history have been handled carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Sequoia?

At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records and see whether any prior damage was properly repaired. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the truck-like wear points that matter most on a large SUV, especially brakes and underbody condition. Pay close attention to rust, since frame corrosion is a concern, and make sure the vehicle’s overall condition matches its mileage and asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2018 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $32,561 sits slightly below last year's $33,869.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper short-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the Sequoia’s reputation for durability and strong resale value supports demand among shoppers who want a proven full-size SUV. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and stay ahead of maintenance, you should be better positioned when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the refreshed look and safety upgrades, plus a model year that still benefits from the Sequoia’s durable, truck-based character. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is the better pick when you want a balance of modern safety features, proven hardware, and strong owner approval.
