Is the 2018 Toyota Camry a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Toyota Camry earns a 4.58/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal from both owners and testers. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its attractive design, reliable performance, great gas mileage, comfortable ride, and safety features. That lines up well with the Camry’s role as a practical daily driver for commuting and errands, while still giving you a more engaging, sporty feel than many family sedans.

At the same time, the market shows 29.9% of listings as good or great deals, so you can still find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry reliable?

The expert notes reinforce that this Camry is built to handle the daily grind, with a focus on reliable transportation and a driving character that still feels composed and confident. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core mechanical reputation and more about finding a well-kept example that avoids wear-related issues and trim-specific compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Camry?

At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because some owners mention concerns about interior materials and missing options in lower trims, it also makes sense to focus on cabin condition and feature content before you commit. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example with the best maintenance history is usually the safer buy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L trim comes standard with remote keyless entry, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and a USB port, while the LE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat, an anti-theft system, and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat. The SE adds the unique front-end design, 18-inch black-finished wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic climate control, and SofTex sport front seats, while the XSE adds dual-zone climate control, a trio of USB ports, a head-up display, a panoramic moonroof, and a large 7-inch color information display. The XLE adds full LED headlights, a bright metallic front grille, 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and upgraded interior trim.

• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 203 horsepower, while the XSE version of that engine increases output to 206 horsepower. The XSE and XLE are also available with a 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, and every engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The 4-cylinder returns 29 mpg city, 41 highway, 34 combined, while the V6 returns 22 city, 32 highway, 26 combined.

• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. You can also get a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent clearance sonar for low-speed parking help. The available 360-degree camera is tied to the parking-assist setup on equipped models.

• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune 3.0, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri EyesFree, and Google voice controls for Android users. It does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The XLE V6 and XSE get a larger 8-inch touchscreen, plus a 9-speaker JBL premium audio system and RemoteConnect with Wi-Fi connectivity.

• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder returns 29 mpg city, 41 highway, 34 combined, while the V6 returns 22 city, 32 highway, 26 combined.

Which 2018 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2018 Toyota Camry is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XSE, and XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Camry without paying for extras you may not use. It covers the basics with remote keyless entry, Bluetooth, and a USB port.

• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like a power driver’s seat, alloy wheels, and a split-fold rear seat without pushing you into the pricier sport or luxury-oriented trims.

• SE: Choose this if you want the Camry’s sportier look and feel, including the unique front-end design, black-finished wheels, rear spoiler, automatic climate control, and SofTex sport front seats.

• XSE: This is the most feature-rich choice for buyers who want the sportiest Camry with more comfort and tech, including the head-up display, panoramic moonroof, larger display, and available V6 power.

• XLE: Pick this if you want the more upscale, comfort-focused version with LED headlights, chrome-finished wheels, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and upgraded interior trim.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, which gives every trim a strong safety foundation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Camry?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,779 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,877, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $17,835 sits slightly below last year's $17,899.

That small decline suggests the Camry’s market value has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price trend usually means buyers still see the model as a sensible, familiar choice, so you’re less likely to face a sharp drop just because time passes.

Strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand in the used market. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2018 Toyota Camry earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Camry also comes with 10 airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. You can add a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent clearance sonar, which improves low-speed parking confidence.

That standard safety package is a major strength, especially if you want a family sedan with a strong built-in driver-assistance suite. The main caveat is that some helpful features remain optional rather than standard, so it’s worth checking the exact equipment on any used listing you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends bold styling with strong safety and a more engaging driving feel than many family sedans.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $15,081, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,835 average.
• The 2017 is a mature, competent sedan with strong reliability and a comfortable ride.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,874, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $17,835 average.
• The 2019 adds outstanding safety ratings and a free scheduled maintenance plan.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of style, safety, and everyday usability, the 2018 is the main target. If price matters most, the 2017 can save you money while still delivering the Camry basics. If you’re willing to spend more for newer-model advantages, the 2019 is worth a look.
