What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru Impreza?

At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past repair work. Since owners mention that trunk space can be a limitation, it also makes sense to focus on whether the car’s overall condition and practicality match your needs before you commit.

What is the 2018 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $13,703 sits slightly below last year's $13,871.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Because the price range is relatively tight, well-kept examples should stand out more clearly than average ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,613, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $13,703 average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive in a practical, affordable package.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of owner satisfaction, pricing, and availability, the 2018 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the core Impreza appeal.
