Is the 2018 Nissan Maxima a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its performance, safety features, and handling, and many also like the value it offers for the money. The overview also shows why it appeals to you if you want a sedan that feels more engaging than a typical family car while still offering comfort and standard tech. Is the 2018 Nissan Maxima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback describes it as reliable and safe, with owners also calling out its trouble-free feel and family-friendly dependability. That kind of praise suggests you can approach used examples with confidence, especially if the car has been maintained well. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a neglected example, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Maxima?

At 48.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body panels, paint consistency, alignment, and signs of prior collision work. Because this model is valued for its performance and comfort, you should also focus on overall mechanical condition and interior wear so you do not overpay for a car that looks good on paper but needs work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Maxima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 703 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,918, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $13,921 sits slightly below last year's $15,495.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, a lower purchase price can reduce the amount of value you need to recover. Strong demand for well-kept examples should still help, especially if the car has a clean history and good maintenance records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,192, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $13,921 average.
• It brings a mild refresh with updated style, technology, and interior features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you are willing to pay more for a mildly updated version, the 2019 is the better secondary path for buyers who want the refreshed look and features.
