Is the 2017 Nissan Maxima a good car?

Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the stylish design, the blend of luxury and sportiness, and the enjoyable performance, while also noting the smooth ride and ample features. For you, that means this model year fits best if you want a comfortable daily driver with a more upscale personality than many mainstream sedans. Is the 2017 Nissan Maxima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers find dependable, trouble-free, and easy to live with over the long term. That kind of sentiment matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for regular commuting and everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying too much for a car whose condition does not match its asking price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Nissan Maxima?

At 48.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, and you should prioritize any listing with a clean record and consistent service history. A pre-purchase inspection is worth it, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on overall condition, because accident history and repair quality can affect both ownership confidence and future resale.

What is the 2017 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $12,924 sits slightly below last year's $14,257.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend means you should be realistic about depreciation and avoid overpaying now. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,793, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,924 average.
• It emphasizes styling as the main draw.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better primary choice if you want the stronger overall value proposition, especially with softer pricing and solid owner satisfaction. If you are more price-sensitive and can accept an older model year, the 2016 is the secondary path to consider.
