Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. Should I buy a 2018 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.68% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,426, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $14,967 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and more engaging handling.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,922, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,967 average.
• It brings a more upscale feel and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current-market availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2017 is the smarter value play; if you want a newer-feeling package and can stretch your budget, the 2019 is the upgrade path to consider.
