Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to used buyers: comfort, luxury, interior space, and strong performance that owners feel good about living with over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Navigator is built to handle serious hauling and towing, which supports the impression of a capable, confidence-inspiring large SUV.

Lincoln’s Black Label ownership perks also include maintenance pickup, an upgraded maintenance program, and free car washes, which adds a useful ownership benefit for buyers considering the top trim. For used shoppers, the main long-term risk is making sure the truck has been cared for properly, especially given the size, complexity, and premium equipment involved.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

At 70.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with premium equipment. Focus on condition, evidence of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin and technology features operate as they should. Because this is a large luxury SUV, you also want to pay close attention to how well the interior, electronics, and convenience features have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Even the base Premiere trim is lavish, with 20-inch wheels, LED lighting, heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding second- and third-row seating, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, a 12-inch reconfigurable instrument cluster, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot capability, a wall-style power outlet, remote start, and tri-zone climate control with rear-seat control. Select adds adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera. Reserve adds a panoramic dual-pane sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and unique 22-inch wheels. Black Label adds the most exclusive ownership experience, plus the heavy-duty trailer package and technology package.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on lower trims, while 4WD is optional on Premiere and Select and standard on Reserve and Black Label. Fuel economy is 16 mpg city and 23 highway with RWD, or 16 city and 21 highway with 4WD.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go are reserved for Black Label.
• Infotainment: The Navigator uses a 10-inch touchscreen with Sync 3, plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa through AppLink. It also has real volume and tuning knobs, and the system is designed to be easy to use despite the large screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Navigator returns 16 mpg city and 23 highway with rear-wheel drive, or 16 city and 21 highway with 4WD.

Which 2018 Lincoln Navigator trim should I buy?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator is offered in 4 trim levels: Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label.

Here's the short version:

• Premiere: This is the value play if you want the Navigator experience without stretching into the pricier trims. You still get a very rich standard equipment list, including heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding rear seating, the 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, and the 12-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Select: This trim adds meaningful everyday upgrades like adaptive suspension, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera. It is the best-value choice if you want a more polished and easier-to-live-with Navigator without jumping all the way to the top trims.
• Reserve: This is the right pick if you want a more upscale feel, thanks to the panoramic dual-pane sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and unique 22-inch wheels. It is the trim that most clearly leans into luxury without going all the way to Black Label exclusivity.
• Black Label: This is the most exclusive version, with the special interior themes, heavy-duty trailer package, technology package, and premium ownership perks like maintenance pickup and free car washes. It is the trim to choose if you want the fullest luxury experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package starts with blind-spot warning, while lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go are added on Black Label.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 629 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,434, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator's resale value?

The current average of $25,434 sits slightly below last year's $29,276.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you are thinking about short-term resale. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Navigator’s value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level, especially because premium trims and well-kept examples tend to stand out more in a luxury SUV market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator safe?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. If you want lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, you need to move up to Black Label.

That trim-level gap matters if safety tech is a priority for you, because the most advanced driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2018 Lincoln Navigator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model year brings a major redesign with a sharper look, a much more upscale cabin, and a strong 450-horsepower twin-turbo V6.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive and modern-feeling Navigator in this price band, the 2018 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 stands out for its redesign, strong owner satisfaction, and broad luxury appeal.
