How much does the 2018 Lexus RX cost?

Is the 2018 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Lexus RX earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth and comfortable ride, the spacious interior, and the luxurious features. Many also describe it as reliable with low maintenance costs, which makes it appealing if you want a comfortable, upscale crossover for daily use. The main tradeoff is that some owners feel the technology is outdated, so you should weigh comfort and refinement more heavily than modern infotainment features.

With 38.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2018 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable with low maintenance costs, and that kind of feedback matters when you’re shopping used. The expert evaluation also points to a smooth, responsive engine and a transmission that handles its responsibilities without issues. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about choosing a well-kept example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lexus RX?

At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and interior condition. Because this model year is aimed at comfort and family use, pay close attention to wear in the cabin, seat condition, and how well the added seating area has been maintained. If you’re considering a higher-mileage example, make sure the service history supports the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim includes auto LED headlights and high beams, LED fogs and running lights, leather upholstery, keyless ignition and entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable steering wheel, 8-way power front seats, and an 8-inch display. It also includes adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning and intervention with auto braking.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The standard setup is smooth and responsive, and the hybrid option adds two high-torque electric motors for 308 hp and all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: The standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning and intervention with auto braking. Blind-spot monitoring is not standard.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch display, but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are unavailable. Built-in navigation and the upgraded stereo can add significant cost.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard RX 350L is rated at 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The hybrid is rated at 31 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined.

Which 2018 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2018 Lexus RX is offered in 1 trim level: RX 350L.

Here's the short version:

The RX 350L is the only trim explicitly described here, so your decision is really about whether the added third-row seating is worth the tradeoffs. It brings a luxury-oriented feature set, strong safety equipment, and a comfortable driving experience, but the third row is tight and access is difficult. If you want the most straightforward path into this model year, this is the trim to focus on.

The standard safety suite is a strong plus, but blind-spot monitoring is not standard.

• Deal availability: 38.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,454 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,578, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $26,053 sits slightly below last year's $27,203.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it’s time to resell. The RX’s broad appeal as a comfortable luxury crossover should help support demand, especially among shoppers who value refinement and practicality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Lexus RX safe?

The 2018 Lexus RX earns a Top Safety Pick+ title from the IIHS and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in all tests other than side crash categories where it scored five-star ratings across the board.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning and intervention with auto braking. Blind-spot monitoring is not standard, so you may want to prioritize a listing that includes it or budget for a trim/package that adds it.

Should I buy a 2018 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 38.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The added third-row seating is the defining change, but it comes with tight access and limited space.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,466, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $26,053 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, value, and a polished driving experience.

The bottom line: If you want the extra seating and are comfortable with the packaging compromises, the 2018 is the better fit. If your priority is saving money and you don’t need the added third row, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path.
