Is the 2018 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Soul earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2018 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback specifically calls out its reliability and great value for the price, and it also suggests many drivers feel good about living with it over time. The same feedback points to a few practical annoyances, but the overall tone is still positive on dependability and ownership experience. For used buyers, that means long-term risk looks manageable if you choose a well-kept example and verify condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Kia Soul?

At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if a listing looks unusually cheap. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the car drives in everyday use. It also makes sense to focus on the practical annoyances owners mention, including pedal spacing and the missing spare tire.

What is the 2018 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $10,225 sits slightly below last year's $10,371.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can make resale timing more important if you plan to sell later. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to limit depreciation pressure. The Soul’s broad appeal as a practical, distinctive small car should help keep buyer interest steady.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $8,849, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $10,225 average.
• It emphasizes distinctive styling over conventional value.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the stronger overall mix of owner satisfaction, current-market availability, and updated features. If your main goal is to spend less, the 2017 is the better budget-first path, especially if you prioritize personality over newer-market pricing.
