What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?

At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of bodywork, repairs, and wear items. Because the Soul’s appeal depends heavily on value and condition, you’ll want to confirm that any prior damage was repaired properly and that the car still feels tight, clean, and well cared for. If you’re comparing multiple listings, focus on the ones with the clearest records and the best overall condition rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The loaded test vehicle included leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry, push-button start, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats, while the stripped-down basic Soul was much simpler.
• Powertrain: The test vehicle used a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, and the commentary notes that more power would be welcome.
• Safety package: The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, plus Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features, but it lacks modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The cabin can include an 8-inch touchscreen, Kia UVO eServices, navigation, Bluetooth audio, Pandora Internet radio, Siri Eyes Free, Google Local Search, and My POI functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert recorded 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, with a combined-driving average of 24.6 mpg.

What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $7,850 sits slightly below last year's $8,018.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved through some of its depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a seller, the current market shows that demand is still present, but buyers have enough inventory to be selective. That means condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot when you eventually resell.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it combines strong value, a 9/10 safety score, and a Top Safety Pick rating.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $6,892, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,850 average.
• It is a compact hatch that blends everyday usefulness with a lot of personality.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better primary choice because it pairs value, safety, and broad owner approval with a still-reasonable market price. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 is the lower-cost alternative and may make sense if you’re willing to trade some of the 2015’s polish and feature content for a cheaper entry point.
