Used 2018 Honda HR-V for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2018 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,098 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2018 Honda HR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Honda HR-V earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10. Owners repeatedly praise its comfort, great gas mileage, and user-friendly features, and they also like the interior versatility for family use. That lines up with the HR-V’s city-friendly footprint and practical crossover packaging, which make it easy to live with if you want utility without moving up to a larger SUV. 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. In owner feedback, the HR-V is often described as reliable, and drivers also call out its smooth ride and trouble-free daily use. The driving notes reinforce that dependability theme, with the HR-V described as composed and comfortable in everyday conditions. Honda’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to a well-priced crossover at the low end of the segment, though the older engine and dated tech mean you should still watch for wear and feature gaps on used examples. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a neglected example may feel dated faster than rivals, so condition matters more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda HR-V?

At 58.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim being advertised. Because the HR-V’s tech and safety content varies by trim, it’s worth confirming exactly what’s installed before you buy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX has similar alloys in one color, while EX and EX-L trims get two-tone 17-inch wheels. The EX-L also adds leather, and the cabin is described as more premium than the base setup, so the lower trims are the ones where feature gaps are most noticeable.
• Powertrain: A single 1.8-liter 4-cylinder makes 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque across all trims. The front-wheel-drive LX and EX can be paired with a 6-speed manual, while all-wheel drive is optional on all trims and pairs exclusively with the CVT.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a multi-angle reversing camera, while optional LaneWatch uses a camera in the right side-view mirror to show the car’s blind spot on the central screen. Forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and other electronic safety features are not available.
• Infotainment: The system does not support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, and the tech is described as dated. Response time is slow, maps are low resolution, and the interface is confusing; the top trim adds SiriusXM and HD Radio.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy is EPA rated at between 25 and 27 mpg city and 31 and 34 mpg highway. Our AWD EX-L is rated at 27/31, and the manual transmission is described as quicker than the CVT.

Which 2018 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda HR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and the basics of the HR-V package. It keeps the model’s practical shape and utility, but you give up some of the nicer exterior and cabin touches found higher up.
• EX: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of price and equipment. It adds more visual polish than the LX and still keeps the HR-V’s core strengths intact, making it the best-value choice for most shoppers.
• EX-L: This is the pick if you want the most upscale version of the HR-V. It adds leather and the most premium-feeling cabin treatment, but the price jump makes it harder to justify unless you specifically want the extra comfort and finish.

Safety-wise, the HR-V does not offer forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, or other electronic safety features, so even the top trim stays relatively light on driver assistance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda HR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,098 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,351, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $15,786 sits slightly below last year's $15,976.

That mild decline suggests the HR-V has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, the current trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, but the model’s practical appeal and broad shopper interest should help support demand. The strongest resale prospects will usually come from well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda HR-V safe?

The HR-V earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash tests and four-star ratings in frontal crash tests. It scored the top Good rating in four of five IIHS crash tests, with an Acceptable rating for front side overlap, and it is not a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard multi-angle reversing camera is a useful feature, and optional LaneWatch is a standout because it shows the right-side blind spot on the central screen. The downside is that forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and other electronic safety features are not available, so the HR-V lags newer rivals in active safety tech.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model keeps the HR-V’s practical packaging and city-friendly size, but it still has dated tech and limited driver-assistance availability.

The bottom line: If you want a practical, easy-to-shop used HR-V and you’re comfortable with older tech, the 2018 is a sensible buy. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on clean, well-maintained listings near the low end of the range and prioritize condition over trim level.
