The 2018 Kia Niro stands out as a practical hybrid crossover that puts fuel economy first without giving up everyday usefulness. It was Kia’s first dedicated hybrid, and its appeal came from combining a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, a 32-kW electric motor, and a 1.6-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. That setup delivered 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, and the Niro was EPA-rated at 51/46/49 mpg on the LX and EX trims for this model year. It also offered Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the base FE, along with a seven-inch touchscreen and Kia’s Uvo telematics.
For buyers, the 2018 Niro’s strengths were its efficiency, useful equipment, and broad feature spread across the lineup. Kia added lane keep assist to the LX Advanced Technology Package for 2018, introduced the EX Premium Package with much of the Touring trim’s equipment, and made more content standard on the Touring, including a wireless phone charger and HID headlights. The Touring Graphite Edition also brought black 18-inch wheels and a silver grille. At the same time, the Niro was not a performance choice: the source describes the steering as vague in testing, and the car’s real-world fuel economy in that test was only 35 mpg. Live love love this car! Its not the basic model it is perfect, spacious great viewing capabilities on blind spots and not at all small. I prefer sedan types and suvs and this fits the feel of both!

Mileage was one of the most important things, and this has 49 or 50 combined! Unheard of for an SUV. It was so quiet. Shut the door and everything is shut out. Also comfortable. I was in a bad car accident, so a comfortable seat is important. Good visibility, and storage. I think its great!
