CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Dodge Challenger

Summary
With 1,593 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,942.00, 27.4% of 2018 Dodge Challengers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Dodge Challenger 4.71 / 5 stars.
58.4% of 2018 Challenger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Dodge Challenger stands out as a muscle car that blends old-school attitude with everyday usability. It is a five-passenger coupe with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that includes a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, which helps make it a fairly practical choice even in performance-oriented versions. The Challenger also offers a wide range of powertrains, transmissions, and special editions, so buyers could tailor it toward either entry-level affordability or serious straight-line performance.
What makes the 2018 model especially appealing is the breadth of its personality. The Challenger’s available Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8 engines, along with manual and automatic transmissions, give it a broad performance spread, and features such as adaptive suspension, launch control, Brembo brakes, and Mopar tuning options reinforce its enthusiast appeal. It also has the kind of visual drama muscle-car shoppers expect, with standout colors, special-edition badging, spoilers, hood scoops, and unique grille and fascia designs. Widebody variations were offered for some trims in 2019 and 2020, so that styling cue does not apply to the 2018 model year.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and weight can work against it, and some owners note fuel economy and modest amenities in certain models as drawbacks. Still, for buyers who want a distinctive American coupe with strong performance potential, a roomy cabin, and a long list of configurations, the 2018 Dodge Challenger remains one of the most characterful choices in its class.

I love this car it’s what I’ve always wanted a factory hot rod. Buy em now they aren’t making them anymore.. 2018 dodge upgraded the touch screen, this one’s nice big and clear. Back up beepers and blind spot lights on the mirror huge plus. The thing I found I don’t like is I would like a gear indicator on the dash sometimes you’ll miss one. I’m new to this 6 speed. It’s a blast to drive!

| Year-Round High | $24,529.38 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,371 |

Prices have softened 5.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,611 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $22,363.76, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Dodge Challenger a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.71/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful engine options, roomy interior, and overall comfort, while also noting its distinctive style and muscle-car personality. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a five-passenger coupe that still feels practical enough for everyday use, with a user-friendly infotainment setup and a wide range of performance-oriented configurations. With 23.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to performance, comfort, and the sense that it delivers the experience they expected. Mentions of dependable ownership are reinforced by the way buyers continue to value its strong engine choices and roomy cabin. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about choosing a well-kept example that has been maintained carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Challenger?
At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you commit. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear that could point to past damage or hard use. Because this model is often bought for performance as much as commuting, you should also focus on how the car has been driven and maintained, not just how it looks in photos.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Challenger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,611 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.49% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,363.76, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $23,033 sits slightly below last year's $24,371.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale depends heavily on how well your specific car holds up. If you buy a clean, well-documented example, you are more likely to preserve value than if you choose a higher-risk listing with questionable history. Strong demand for this model’s style and performance should help support interest later, especially if you keep mileage and condition in check.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.49% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $20,377, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $23,033 average.
- It leans harder into retro muscle-car character.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall shopping case, the 2018 is the better primary target because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a softer price trend and meaningful inventory. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if its lower average price matters more than the newer-year market position.
