CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
overall

Summary
With 127 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,229.00, 37.0% of 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrids for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid 4.29 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.
81.9% of 2018 Pacifica Hybrid models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid stands out as the world’s first plug-in hybrid minivan, and that alone gives it a distinctive place in the segment. Chrysler pairs that frugality with a practical family-friendly layout, while also trying to add some eco esteem to a lineup that is otherwise described as rather sparse. For buyers who want a minivan that emphasizes efficiency without giving up the basic usefulness expected from the body style, that combination is the Pacifica Hybrid’s main appeal.
Chrysler also made sure the 2018 model brought a healthy amount of technology even at the entry level. The Hybrid gets newly standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, an updated Uconnect system, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher trims add more equipment, including a standard 20-speaker Harman Kardon stereo on Limited models, and the Uconnect Theater can stream from Android devices wirelessly. The available 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity for the navigation system further reinforces the Pacifica Hybrid’s tech-forward character.
At the same time, owner feedback suggests the Pacifica Hybrid’s strengths are matched by a few practical concerns. Reviewers praise its luxury features, leather seating, comfort, practicality, and eco-friendly performance, but some have been disappointed by the inability to fold the second-row seats. There have also been concerns about safety due to recalls, which is worth keeping in mind for shoppers drawn to the model’s efficiency and family-oriented design.

Great car, but plagued by constant and dangerous recalls. Since Ive owned the car, it has had at least 2 recalls that, if unrepaired, endangered my family, my car, and potentially my house through fires. An additional recall was just released that affects the transmission and could cause the car to shut down at highway speeds.

How much does the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,062 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,966.25 |
| Year-Round High | $18,378.85 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $18,344 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.99% |
Prices have softened 6.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 130 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $16,966.25, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid a good car?
Generally — the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid earns a 4.29/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall reception. The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.
Owners consistently praise its luxury features, leather seating, comfort, practicality, and eco-friendly performance. That fits the Pacifica Hybrid’s role as a family-focused minivan with a clear efficiency angle, especially if you want usefulness without giving up a tech-forward cabin.
The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals.
Is the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many buyers, with praise centered on practicality, comfort, and eco-friendly performance. The expert drive notes that the hybrid powertrain inserts itself with relative grace, and Chrysler’s efficiency-focused setup is aimed at everyday family use.
If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the hybrid system, braking behavior, and recall history have been properly checked before you commit.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still review the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the hybrid system, braking feel, and any signs of wear from family use. It also helps to confirm that the features you want are present, since equipment changes meaningfully by trim.
Key things to evaluate:
Trim level: The Touring Plus starts with 3-zone auto climate control, auto headlights, LED taillights, heated mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, power front seats, power sliding doors, a 6-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, voice commands, USB and auxiliary inputs, a rear-view camera, and rear parking sensors. Touring L adds a power liftgate, remote engine start, heated front seats, window shades for the second and third rows, roof rails, an upgraded center console, and leather, while Limited adds hands-free sliding doors and liftgate operation, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, auto high beams and wipers, better leather, and extra rear-seat charging. The Limited is the best-value choice if you want the richest equipment mix, while the lower trim makes sense if you mainly want the hybrid basics.
Powertrain: The hybrid uses a heavily modified 3.6-liter V6 with different pistons, camshafts, valves, increased compression, and an Atkinson timing cycle, paired with dual electric motors and a CVT. It makes 260 horsepower and can travel more than 30 miles on electric power with a full charge. Charging takes 14 hours on a standard outlet or about two hours on a 240-volt outlet.
Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear-view camera, and rear parking sensors. The Limited adds adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go capability, front parking sensors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Some of those driver aids are optional on lower trims, so check carefully before you buy.
Infotainment: The updated Uconnect system includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus Bluetooth, voice command, HD and satellite radio, USB and auxiliary inputs, and ambient lighting. Higher trims can add navigation, 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and a rear-seat entertainment system, while the Limited gets dual seatback screens, a Blu-ray player, and wireless streaming for Android devices.
Fuel efficiency: The hybrid setup is designed to save fuel, with an EPA-estimated combined 32 mpg in gasoline-only operation and more than 30 miles of electric-only driving. Real-world testing in the source material returned around 21 mpg, so your actual results may vary depending on how you drive and charge it.
Which 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Touring Plus, Touring L, Limited.
Here's the short version:
Touring Plus: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a strong equipment base with standard safety tech, power sliding doors, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and the updated Uconnect system with smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the hybrid experience at the lowest starting point.
Touring L: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the comfort and convenience upgrades most families will notice right away, including a power liftgate, heated front seats, leather, remote start, and window shades for the second and third rows. If you want the sweet spot between price and everyday livability, this is the one to target.
Limited: This is the trim to buy if you want the most complete Pacifica Hybrid experience, with hands-free sliding doors and liftgate operation, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, upgraded leather, and the richest tech and safety content. It also brings the most advanced driver-assistance and rear-seat entertainment features.
The Limited’s safety and driver-assistance suite is the most complete, while lower trims may require options to match it.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting for a dramatic bargain shift.
- Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 130 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,966.25, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $17,062 sits slightly below last year's $18,344.
That softer pricing suggests the model has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. A lower entry price can also make it easier for your listing to stand out if you maintain the vehicle well and keep the history clean.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid safe?
The Pacifica Hybrid earns Good ratings from IIHS in most tests, with Acceptable results in the small overlap front passenger side test and headlight test on lower trims. It also received a Marginal rating for child-seat anchor ease of use. NHTSA gave it five-star ratings in every category except rollover, where it scored four-star.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear-view camera, and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go capability, front parking sensors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The Limited gets the fullest suite, while some of those features are optional on lower trims.
The main caveat is that the hybrid battery adds weight, which can increase braking distances and contribute to brake fade under repeated hard stops.
Should I buy a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2018 stands out as the first plug-in hybrid minivan, and it brings standard blind-spot monitoring, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a strong tech package even at the entry trim.
The bottom line: If you want the Pacifica Hybrid’s unique plug-in efficiency, strong tech, and family-friendly layout, the 2018 is the year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for a clean, well-equipped example near the low end of the range and prioritize the trim that gives you the features you’ll actually use.
