Used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 8.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,441 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Equinox options to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners repeatedly praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and good fuel economy. They also point to the turbo engine as a welcome upgrade for power and efficiency, while the Equinox’s redesigned compact-SUV packaging makes it a practical fit if you want passenger room without moving up to a larger crossover.

The model’s 29.3% good-and-great-deal share suggests there are still attractive listings in the market, especially if you’re shopping for a roomy, easy-to-live-with compact SUV.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to the Equinox as dependable in everyday use, with owners highlighting its comfortable, trouble-free feel and the kind of long-term ownership experience that makes it easy to count on. The turbo engine gets positive mention for improving both power and efficiency, though some buyers do raise concerns about engine reliability.

The driving review describes the Equinox as a vehicle that has been refined to remove rough edges, which supports the impression of a calm, predictable ownership experience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained carefully, especially given the engine-reliability concerns some owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and any signs that the engine or electronics have been stressed or neglected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans four trim levels, and the base model is the one most likely to leave out desirable comfort and convenience equipment. Higher trims add more upscale cabin touches and more available driver-assistance content, so you should compare feature gaps carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, and the review notes that Chevy also planned additional turbocharged gasoline and diesel options. The engine is adequate for everyday driving, but it can feel short on passing confidence and shows some turbo lag.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include Rear Seat Reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar Guidance Plan services. Driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems are largely limited to the LT and Premier trims, and adaptive cruise control and full-speed-range automatic emergency braking are not available.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s MyLink system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection. The cabin also offers a 360-degree surround-view camera system, while embedded navigation and a Bose premium audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The review cites 28 mpg in combined driving for the front-wheel-drive 1.5-liter setup, and the test loop returned 23.3 mpg.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable giving up the extra convenience and safety content found higher up the range.
• LS: This is the trim to watch if you want a sensible value play, since it should give you a better balance of price and everyday usability than the base model.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it’s where the driver-assistance and collision-avoidance content starts to become more available.
• Premier: This is the trim for you if you want the most upscale feel and the richest equipment mix, but it’s the one most likely to push the price up quickly.

The safety-content note to keep in mind is that driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems are largely limited to the LT and Premier trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,441 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,160, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $12,160 sits slightly below last year's $13,352.

That decline suggests the Equinox has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if prices stabilize. If you buy at the right number and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. The current market also shows enough demand and inventory movement to support a reasonably active resale environment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Rear Seat Reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar Guidance Plan services with automatic collision notification, crisis assist, and emergency services. Chevy’s driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems are largely limited to the LT and Premier trims, and the Safety Alert Seat is available to turn warnings into seat vibrations.

You should also note that adaptive cruise control and full-speed-range automatic emergency braking are not available for this model year. That limitation matters if you’re comparing the Equinox with newer or better-equipped rivals.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 redesign makes the Equinox smaller, lighter, and more clearly positioned as a compact SUV.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,715, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $12,160 average.
• It adds HD rear-view and surround-view cameras for better visibility.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a broad used-car inventory. If visibility upgrades matter more to you than price, the 2019 is worth the extra money.

How does the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox compare to the 2018 GMC Terrain?

Our experts score the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox 7.2/10 and the 2018 GMC Terrain 6.2/10. The Equinox is the better pick if you want the stronger overall expert score and a lower average used price. The Terrain counters with a slightly higher share of good-and-great deals and a higher accident-free share, but it costs more on average and trails the Equinox in highway fuel economy.
