Is the 2018 BMW 7 Series a good car?

Generally — the 2018 BMW 7 Series earns 4.31/5 from owners, which points to strong overall satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise the powerful engine, luxurious interior, smooth ride, and strong performance, and many also like the value it offers relative to similar luxury vehicles. Is the 2018 BMW 7 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.31/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that can feel dependable in daily use when properly maintained, with praise centered on its smooth ride, strong performance, and overall luxury experience. At the same time, some owners mention concerns about potential engine issues and repair costs, which is a reminder that long-term ownership risk can rise quickly if maintenance history is weak or warranty coverage is limited.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 BMW 7 Series?

At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with collision records or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to engine condition, repair history, and any signs of expensive wear. Because owners mention repair costs and possible engine concerns, you should focus on overall condition and documentation rather than just mileage or trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 BMW 7 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 495 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,917, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $22,949 sits slightly below last year's $24,477.

That decline suggests the market has already absorbed some of the model’s depreciation, which can help future sellers if prices stabilize from here. For you, that means buying at the right price matters: a lower entry cost gives you more room to absorb normal depreciation later. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2018 if you want a tech-rich, full-size luxury sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than a year ago. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is the better fit when you want a balance of luxury, performance, and current market value.
