What should I look for when buying a used 2018 BMW 4 Series?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a convertible or a higher-mileage example. Focus your condition check on signs of past bodywork, interior wear, and whether the car’s premium features still work as expected.

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 914 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.

The current average of $17,358 sits slightly below last year's $18,038.

That tells you the market has softened, which can make the car more attractive to buy now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking like a future seller, the current pricing trend suggests you should buy carefully and focus on condition, mileage, and history so your car stands out later. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because shoppers still respond to the model’s premium image and strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want a premium used 4 Series with solid owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than the newest badge alone.
